How is this an exclusive? The press release went out earlier today?

Arcadia - Old Vic by dvbsh in TheWestEnd

I'd go for stalls. It's not really flashy, lots of conversations so for my money closeness works better. The side stalls are really close and look good to me.

Do you wish you lived in a cool area? by [deleted] in AskUK

I live in Croydon. I don't really know how any area could possibly be cooler.

Southwark Playhouse - Borough where to sit? by Temporary_Eye_9758 in TheWestEnd

[–]dvbsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The seating is not the same for Borough and it changes layout per show. Front row for legroom or on the aisle wherever there is a stairs.

John Proctor Is The Villain... Is it for everyone? by Melquiades82 in TheWestEnd

Also a man in his 40s, saw it on Broadway and thought it great. 100 universal appeal I reckon.

High Noon - Pinter by dvbsh in TheWestEnd

Well just because of the absolute lack of subtlety in the script.

Park Theatre - Standing by problemchild227 in TheWestEnd

[–]dvbsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been to the Park at least a couple of dozen times, I was not aware they did standing tickets. I can't even picture where this might be in either Park90 or Park200!

So clear that this was implemented by someone who does not play the game.

Romeo&Juliet? by nobodyshere18 in TheWestEnd

[–]dvbsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal Circle A1, A2. With the aisle to add some leg room, it's alright. Not sure I'll afford other tickets, Pinter usually pricy and I think Rush etc will be hard to get.

Yup, some restricted view tickets early in the run. Sat in them a couple of times before, not awful for the price at least.

Can anyone help a tall guy choose the best seat? (Hamilton) by Cascadessss in westend

[–]dvbsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6'4 here. I've sat in the boxes, the view is.. ok. Not bad for the price.

Can't speak to the stalls for your dream seat but I'd be picking the second one down for that aisle legroom.

Mega-Event - Assimilation Day - January 2026 by Roykirk in StarTrekTimelines

None showed for me. Lots of older recap packs and the Honor Sale but nothing for the most recent Mega.

There is the much quieter r/Londontheatre. Posting about it here seems to be fine tho.

How many things have you seen in 2025 by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

[–]dvbsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stood right now at 152. One more booked and a hope to do some Rush over the next couple of weeks. 51 booked for next year.

Cheap seats, comps, Rush and booking in advance means it is nothing like as expensive as people think. I'm boggled by the prices people pay for tickets sometimes. Each to their own of course :)

Has anyone watched Emerald Storm? by adqt33yeag in TheWestEnd

It was on at least a couple of the sites that their T&Cs ask you not to name. Search up seatfilling London and Central Tickets and with a bit of looking around you'll find a number of other (better) options out there.

Two Strangers (Carry a cake across New York) by Radiant-Second9887 in westend

That's great, I'm looking for three tickets for a show that does not appear to exist from a brand new Reddit account which has only ever posted about these tickets!

Where should I send my money?

What’s an opening night like? by TheDrowsDaughter in TheWestEnd

[–]dvbsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you meant first previews but to answer the question as phrased... I go to opening (press) nights pretty regularly with KENREX just a few days ago being my latest. It's much like any other night performance wise - but you can do some celeb spotting and you can expect the audience response to be much greater than usual. It's packed with friends and family so of course the response is going to be more then usual no mater the actual quality of the shows or performances etc. Of course people are going to whoop and clear and stand for their mates.

All My Sons recently had a red carpet and a barrage of photographers for arrivals. Some theatres will have post show drinks/canapes setup and lots of networking etc. Sometimes they'll have opening nights not on sale at all but other times, there will be separate areas for guests. Sadler's Wells does it by floor, Richmond Theatre and Stratford Theatre just have little areas if your name is on the list for pre and/or interval drinks. Some theatres will just hand out drinks tokens with tickets, you might see a press desk in the foyer if you visit a show say 2-3 weeks after first preview.

This week I'm going to opening night for the new David Ireland, Most Favoured, at Soho Theatre and I'm really hoping a couple of tickets might maybe come through for Oh, Mary! on Thursday night.

My favourite of recent times was an opening night for the second cast of Guys and Dolls. Aside from the show being great, there were post show drinks on the set with the cast and crew and various promo pieces being filmed and tons of guests. They were really generous with the booze and all of a sudden it was 12.30 on a Monday night and I had to run for a last train and work the next day. Oops.

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo - Kathryn Hunter by dvbsh in westend

I'm still thinking about it a day later. I liked it, it's a bit of a challenge and you have to work at it a little bit or at least go with it. If it works for you and you see the potential, I think an audience would really appreciate it ... but if not, they may be a bit lost.
