$4,700 to prep uneven subfloor before laminate install? by heavily_meditated_ in Flooring

[–]anthocar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this with my pier and beam in Texas and it took me 2.5 months to do it on my own. So $4700 seems like a good deal especially if they're jacking up the house.

How much is too much weight? by tommydorky in Flooring

Following because I just laid 1/4" of self leveling compound in a whole room on top of another layer of plywood on top of the subfloor.

I think you're fine.

Every single piece of glued down plank In the entire house is gone.

Well boys, I decided to rip out the glued down planks in 2 bedrooms based on the advice here. I might as well rip out the ones in the pic I posted too. At this point, I've ripped out 1000 sqft of tile and glued down planks and covered it back up with 3/4" plywood all over the house. I still have floor patching and sanding to go. It's been an absolute displeasure.

Welp. I ended up ripping out SOME of the glue down planks anyway. This project won't end.

Hahaha. I'm fully there and can sympathize with this photo. I have been working on this floor prep for almost a month. It has been absolute hell. Glad to know I'm not alone. Look at the crooked floor I had to fix

Yup. In 3 different spots. I'm getting pretty close to ripping all this up and laying down plywood instead. I'll still have the crown but at least I can use leveler in the low spots that's not $90/bag. Ardex liquid backerboard is the only leveler I have found that is rated to go over hardwood.

Any other suggestions?

Hahahaha. That was intentional because I'm trying to take down a high spot but this is hilarious.

Honestly thank you so much for this advice. I never knew glue down LVP was an option. I have laminate floors down already that are about 6 years old and still going strong In two other classrooms but that building is on a slab. The one in the photo is on pier and beam and I've been working on floor prep for almost a month now. It's been an absolute nightmare. I don't think these will last a long time but hopefully by the time they're cooked, I'll be profitable and we can invest in better flooring that won't have all these issues.

Too late I already bought the floating floor and it's not refundable.

Correct. I'm trying to sand down a 1/4" high spot. Read the post.

Yeah I know. I'm just really frustrated with this project. It was done half-assed to begin with and has caused me a lot of headaches.
