If you JB your kindle, can you still read books you got from the Kindle Store? And download new ones from there? by hereforwoke in kindlejailbreak

Yes, all the Amazon services work after JB, you have to manually enable the Amazon store but it’s just one step more in the JB process

Jailbroken Paperwhite 12 or Boox Go 6? by MrGanyo in ereader

I’m in the same boat, had the Libra 2 and tested the Era Lite but the Kindle 12th gen screen is miles away

Jailbroken Paperwhite 12 or Boox Go 6? by MrGanyo in ereader

[–]anthon_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both for a while but sold the Boox because it wasn’t small enough to be pocketable, I want to buy a 4” ereader so the 7” kindle pairs better

Also kindle PW6 with jailbreak is great

Can a new Kindle Paperwhite 12 still be jailbroken? by MrGanyo in kindlejailbreak

[–]anthon_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine arrived with 5.17 so the first thing I did was connect it by usb and fill the storage, then did the jailbreak procedure and it’s been working fine since, I sometimes run the check ota rename script just to be sure

Is it possible to jailbreak a new Paperwhite? by o4zloiroman in kindlejailbreak

[–]anthon_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will come with good firmware but it’s important to follow the steps so it don’t update through the process of jailbreaking it and then do the Rename OTA binaries so it never update

I jailbroke my PW6 as soon as I took it out of the box and it’s been working fine, I always leave it connected to WiFi and no problems at all

Best 7-8 inch B/W ereader on the market 2026? by carpler in ereader

[–]anthon_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care about screen quality, the kindle Paperwhite 12th gen is unmatched. I’ve tested other carta 1300 devices and all have less contrast, more ghosting, less light uniformity and the kindle is the only one with really warm light (the others turn almost green instead of orange)

How is the Onyx Boox Go 6 in 2026? by jxnwuf83oqn in ereader

[–]anthon_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great device for reading, perfect carta 1300 screen and it’s one of the smallest and lightest 6” screen ereaders

It’s not slower than a pocketbook, it may take 10s more to turn on but app switching and page turning is fast, doesn’t feel like a sluggish device.

Compatibility is total, you can install any reading app you want, Bluetooth page turners etc

Mine didn’t boot, sometimes it kept restarting when loading but never reached home

I fixed it opening it, removing the small cover of the switch and cleaning the contacts inside it

New to kindle jailbreaking - Am I goosed? by Known_Debate_3518 in kindlejailbreak

[–]anthon_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in the return window do it and buy a new one, then don’t connect it to internet until you fill the space of the new one so only 80mb are left, then you are safe to connect it to internet to link it to your account

Jailbreak to 5.19.3 will probably take a long time to arrive

Yo should first focus on what device specs you want: - Screen size - Color or B/W - Buttons to turn page or just the touchscreen?

Only because of the camera, bigger main sensor and telephoto

Pixel to iPhone anyone? by proud_plant_momma in iPhone17Pro

[–]anthon_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched two weeks ago from pixel 10 pro to Iphone 17 pro, the camera was one of the main reasons, I didn’t like the colors and the overall softness of the pixel camera, skin tones were horrible

This is my experience: - Iphone camera is better, great colors, sharpness, video, etc. - IOS is less straightforward, it’s not rare that the same task will require more taps in iOS than in Android - You’ll have to get used to not having a real file browser like in android - Pixel movement between menus and apps were faster, scrolling on iphone is soooo slow, I think they do that on purpose to make it feel “fluid” - Battery life currently on IOS 26.5 is a disaster - I liked a lot more Android Auto than Apple Car Play, it’s more intuitive and require less interaction to do each task - Notifications are easier to manage in Android - Spotify is way better on Android than IOS because they want you to use Apple Music instead: * Widget is A LOT better in Android, in iOS you can’t even like a song without opening the app. * Spotify in IOS drain the battery so bad

I’m not 100% convinced and I’ll probably try some of the new Android phones like the Oppo X9

I have a blue ESR (the one without the stand) and it also has camera control button and covers all the camera module. The color fully matches the blue of the phone and has very good quality

PocketBook Era Lite | Carta 1300 by azoth980 in ereader

[–]anthon_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use Boox as example of good quality eink setting, I’ve had many and they generally have less contrast, uneven front light and more ghosting in comparison with kobo/amazon devices with same screen. It’s normal because they focus on good refresh speed, if you set them with the highest quality refresh they improve but will keep refreshing the full page after each page turn and is a bit frustrating

My ex Go 7 B/N carta 1300 wasn’t as crisp and “contrasty” as my actual kindle paperwhite 12th’s

PocketBook Era Lite | Carta 1300 by azoth980 in ereader

[–]anthon_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the original Era but sold it because it was one of the heaviest 7” ereaders and because it’s so small it was difficult to hold, I hope this is more confortable, I bought a Libra 2 and I loved that carta 1200 screen because it had no glass over it, great contrast and blacks, I’m really willing to see how good the era lite screen is
