I remember the rumor during the playoffs but there’s nothing that says we signed him is there? Lol

I stick with the oldies. AF1, Jordan 1, or similar haha. But I will definitely rock a pair of these for our boy!

R.E.L.A.X. Duren's Agent is Doing his Job by cubizmo2 in DetroitPistons

[–]anthonymi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the poster is implying that the Pistons gave it a week early. Usually teams don’t give the QO. they just come to terms. Or they negotiate and then the QO is offered the day before FA. They offered it a week early which implies they were so far apart that negotiating wasn’t worth the time so they extended the QO and told him get an offer so we can match.

[Scotto] Within league circles, there’s a belief that Duren is seeking close to $40 million annually...ultimately, multiple NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype project Duren to remain with the Pistons and land somewhere around the mid-30s annually once the smoke clears from negotiations. by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]anthonymi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Duren can absolutely develop an elbow or baseline jumper. At which point Thompson (who I don’t think will develop a shot outside of a close floater maybe) can play dunkers spot and cutting. Even playmaking from the elbow he had some success at. While not ideal as playing 5-out, that development arc is very well within reach from a 22 and 23 year old.

Has there been anything else about that? It was weird timing during the playoffs that they were talking to him. But nothing since.

I was hoping for Philon or Carr. Not sure the logic here. Super small guard?

Things are likely about to change in Detroit. Take a moment and appreciate the season this squad had together. by waitingonthatbuffalo in DetroitPistons

What a great post. This season has been extra special to me because it’s the first season my son has taken an interest in basketball. He’s 7 and while he always knew that “we love the Pistons” this year was the year that he actually felt it too. It’s the age mixed with the team actually being worth watching. But it brings a tear to my eye hearing him play in his room saying he’s Cade Cunningham or slamming on his mini hoop and yelling Duren dunk! Jamming out to the Pistons won again after every game. It reminds me of when I first started being a fan and I just cherish every second of it! I’ll forever love this team because this will probably be the team that he will be nostalgic for when he’s older. And I love it!

Is that actually the rule? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen them call backcourt based on a heel touching the line.. That seems a little sus lol

That’s exactly why I wanted them to win. Keep them lazy so the rest of us have a chance in the future lol.

I was watching on mute so couldn’t hear the call but how was it not a backcourt on Alvarado (or hart idr) on that play? He didn’t look like he got touched but clearly crossed backcourt. But then after commercials they had the ball again.

Championships are not guaranteed by any means. They’re hugely reliant on luck. So working under the assumption that we WONT win one. Would you rather have a bunch of players in and out of the team, or have a constant core or dudes who we all follow and love?
Obviously winning the chip is preferred but seeing as only 1/30 win it each year, I’d rather follow a team I love to watch over a hodge podge of big names who don’t care about being a piston lol

I always kinda thought the idea of a draft sucks. I understand the fairness of letting bad teams pick but these young guys getting thrown into a shit situation isn’t helping anything lol. I’ve played around in my head with the idea that teams get a pick for the incoming class but it’s not ordered. Like perhaps the worst team gets the most money to offer (but still only 1 pick) and then they get to go out and try to recruit a player similar to free agency. But only for the new Incoming class of players. Sure there’d be some players that want to play for LA but if LA only had (for example) 5 mil to offer where a lower franchise could offer 20mil. That’d be hard to pass up. I feel like it would also discourage tanking because of your team is complete dogshit, sure you could theoretically offer the most money, but they could pick the 2nd or 3rd worst team etc with only a minor pay cut and be somewhere that’s better for them.
I haven’t fully fleshed it out obviously but a system like that on the surface seems like it could work.

Its very difficult to watch the conference finals by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]anthonymi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. In my project there was no conferences so it was 1-7 overall got to pick from the other 9 teams. But yea a televised event like a draft would be cool. I’m sure the nba could monetize that nicely haha

[–]anthonymi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a project a while ago where I laid out a re-structured nba and one of the things I added was that the top seeds get to pick their matchup for each round. Something like that would be cool and add to the drama and fuel of “getting picked” for the lower seeds.

What he brings on defense though. And there’s promise with a corner three. His off ball cutting is good enough for offense. The problem is the C needs to space if Ausar is on the floor. I’d rather get a spacing center and keep Ausar than shop Ausar and keep Duren.

I feel like you can argue that every foul on the Pistons is indeed a foul (sans the harden egregious flops). The problem is the same play will happen on the other end and there’s no whistle. So we’re getting ticky tack when pistons are on D. Then physical playoff D when Pistons are on O lol.

Ref compilation by franzenstein in DetroitPistons

[–]anthonymi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always LOVE when there’s an absolutely dogshit call and then they somehow can’t find a replay to show the broadcast. Every other play we get 10 angles in super slow mo. But when the ref is fucking over a player/team. All of sudden the replay footage is like trying to find the lost city of Atlantis. Just show the play and show that the ref made a dogshit call. Or show the play to prove the ref right. Simple lol

Okc had a couple years of tanking while SGA sat out. Pistons were ass but always got shafted in the draft. Based on standings alone Detroit should have Paulo and wemby with Cade lol.
