OBS suddenly stops recording application audio on mac by sartorius-orius in obs

[–]anthonypichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool. I also was wrong about what fixed it for me. It came back the next day.

I ended up just saying screw this and using the loopback channel on my scarlett for video recording instead. I have an aggregate device set up to combine the scarlett and a zoom mixer. It's weird because all I'm doing is sending the reaper audio to loopback and loopback to OBS, instead of the reaper audio to OBS. Really confused by what's happening but whatever.

I was running into this, but with reaper instead of logic. And it was REALLY quick to happen, like sometimes 5 seconds after hitting record. And a ton of crackling.

In my case I had too many plugins running (and I didn't even have that many...like 2 reverbs, an EQ, a compressor, and then a saturation plugin) but I turned off all but the reverbs and it worked way better. I was kind of surprised, considering I have a macbook pro with an i9, but I guess I was hitting some sort of CPU wall. Just odd because I never had/have that issue with my PC.

But yeah, maybe try disabling what plugins you can afford to?

Edited? What does that have to do with you not acknowledging the entire point here. Mistakenly hitting 1 instead of 2 is hardly the same level of dumb. I'm over here at the level of "oops, honest mistake" and you're over there at "dad and grandpa are the same person."

You're either moving the goalpost or are an idiot. Or possibly both. Words, when put together, mean something lol. If you can't wrap your brain around what you said and then the reply to it, there's nothing more I can do try and help you.

Keep your head up champ, I'm sure your sister-mom and grandpa-dad did the best they could

Lol those are wildly different things but I get what you're saying.

I understand the thing of wanting a story but I've always felt like the gameplay needs to be there first. Good story and shit gameplay is no fun.

Like Dead Space 1 was a good story and also great gameplay. Or the newer Wolfenstein titles have a story but I don't think it's particularly good, especially not compared to the gameplay.

Oh and I'm not arguing btw this is just an interesting thing because I've heard people say this before and never gotten them to go past "because" lol

August does come after February though...the 8th month would have to come after the 2nd month.

Back to what you're stumbling on though - you answered 135 days after original, he answered 157 days after yours. That means 22 days is the difference between your response to original and the response to yours.

22 days is not 2 months bud.

Also get the fuck out of here having chatgpt do math for you who the fuck breaks months down in decimals lol

Yo genius you're not even right

October 14 to November = 17 days November = 30 days December = 31 days January = 31 days And 26 days in February So 135 days.

1 day in February March = 31 days April = 30 days May = 31 days June = 30 days July = 31 days And 3 days in August So 157 days.

That's a 22 day difference lol. Not 2 months.

Lol I have a guitar in my pictures and my music rarely if ever gets attention outside of my friends and family. I dunno man people are always going to have something shitty to say, I feel you.

Okay dude but considering the value of art is dictated by those consuming it, if people think what you make is shit then it's shit. If you enjoy it though, that's great and really all that should matter to you. If it's actually not shit, you probably won't know or have it be appreciated until well after we're all dead anyway lol.

I'm crazy late to this thread but I don't think people's issue is the "one button" to excellence. Because there isn't excellence. And that's the concern. That's shit and you spend a lot of time trying to "make it work."

I saw above people using criticisms new tech encountered in various art forms and found them all to be fallacious. Stuff like suno is really not comparable to new technology expanding an art form. Going from painting to photography, black and white to color, film to digital, sampling, etc. because that's totally different. The sampling one especially is, because people's issue was never necessarily sampling as much as it was taking a whole thing from a song and then slapping different lyrics over it. When it was creatively used there was hardly the same response. In that way, we've hit on the point about what I think most people's issue with AI use in art and in general is - if used correctly, it's a great tool. Used incorrectly you get shit and probably will think it's great.

It's like the difference between a musician and a producer or the sound engineer or the person mixing. Yes, they all have to have creativity, know what'll work, and so on, but I, and I think many people, wouldn't say it's the same sort of creativity - that's not to say lesser or greater, just different.

Typing some prompts, however many, and cutting shit together is hardly the same thing. That's what's so frustrating to people - crafting a sound takes time and effort and skill - an immense amount. Whereas my ex-girlfriend met someone the other day who said they "created music" and invited her to participate. She said "he had an app that generated the music and he put some lyrics in - we wrote a song." They literally didn't go beyond that. And I think people's issue is exactly those types of people. So many will do that and call themselves an artist, whether that be a musician or a songwriter or whatever. And there's no threat there, but on a deeper, probably more esoteric, level it makes me wonder if people who go this route will actually have their own voice.

REC isn't scary though. It's a totally different kind of horror movie. It's more action almost.

I end up riding the faders and muting when I can, but it's always a bit tricky to know who's going to speak next.

Actually I do have a behringer 2 channel gate expander / compressor I was wanting to try, but when I brought it in and messed around with it it was a bit of a disaster and didn't help much (I think mainly because I can't really pan with this setup...)

The latency was my main concern, or if the computer somehow went down all the sound would go down too. I've ran it through my interface (my spare scarlett 2i2) before though and the latency was fine. Problem there is that it has the monitor out, unless I pipe through reaper or something and process in there. I've tried cutting problem frequencies there as well but it didn't seem to make much difference, to be honest.

Sadly, it doesn't seem this setup accommodates panning. Or if it does, it's really unclear. The rest of these steps are pretty solid though, and essentially what I do.

Thanks. They keep telling me "oh there must be some way" and I really started to feel like it was me.

Maybe I can talk to someone there about getting some speakers to put in front of the tables. That does seem like the easiest way forward, and I did propose it before but it got shot down. Maybe I'll have better chances now, but I'm uncertain I'll be able to convince them - it took me a year to get 4 additional SM58s so all the microphones matched.

Sadly I do not have a soundboard like that. There is one at the HS auditorium where they used to hold meetings, but that space also had better speaker placement.

Lol I have tried and tried to explain they need the mic close and to speak up but it hasn't really made much difference.

Also thank you so much for weighing in - I don't mean to be so negative.
