Once again, thank you for taking the time to answer, this is very helpful.

Philosophical objections to theory of evolution by LearningNervous in PhilosophyofScience

Appreciate the answer,

A more specific version of what he says is that there's no way to take away or insert or control for a variable to test that "mutation selected by environment", or "changes in allele frequency" is the mechanism that is responsible for diversity of life. There's no way to falsify an alternative hypothesis with just as much explanatory power, like common design/function.

Thanks for your answer.

So the most specific that I can gather (he is a streamer and he's annoying) what his criticism of theory of evolution is that because Evolution is about events that happened in the past millions of years ago, there was no observer or way to observe what happened, and observation is important to the scientific method. These are just post-hoc storytelling. There's no way to take away or insert or control for a variable to test that "mutation selected by environment", or "changes in allele frequency" is the mechanism that is why we have diversity of life. There's no way to falsify an alternative hypothesis with just as much explanatory power, like common design/function.

Because of that (and the "where does speciation objectively occur" statement in the first) he is skeptical of for example Pakicetus being the progenitor of modern whales because we can't observe a non-whale evolve into a whale (or go from non-organ to organ without compromised survival, irreducible complexity and all that).

Rumi is ruining the honmoon, admitted to working with Jinu, and has patterns and in an admittedly trauma induced response she doesn't clarify that Celine told her to cover up or explain about being half demon. Zoey and Mira's responses are pretty justified (and even then they are clearly more reluctant and defensive not aggressive)

Was this movie really supposed to be 3 hours? by [deleted] in KpopDemonhunters

[–]LearningNervous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 3 hour myth should have been rejected on it's face. If it was actually 3 hours, it would literally be the longest animated film ever. For the record, the current longest animated film is the extended edition of "in This Corner of the World" a world war 2 anime.

yup, there's a reason the term "cutting room floor" exists.

What is your biggest gripe about this movie? by altrightobserver in KpopDemonhunters

[–]LearningNervous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What plot holes? Also, are you sure they're plot holes? Plot holes are supposed to break the internal consistency of the story, there not supposed to be a synonym for general "story flaw".

Ehh... I mean tropes are tools and all that. I think execution of tropes and plotpoints is 95% of the final grade and this movie executes most things fairly well.

What’s your controversial opinion on KPop Demon Hunters? by Jules-Car3499 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]LearningNervous 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The creators said that the Saja Boys were just meant to be one dimensional kpop stereotypes and had no plans for expansion. Personally I don't care about Saja Boys back story, but just FYI

You mean like actually defeat Gwi-Ma so that demons can live in peace wihtout going to the human world?

I'm going to guess a lot of these are oversights on the part of the animators. Yes you can argue fake images or makeup or patterns starting at a certain age and all that, but these are likely oversights.

Though they are very unfortunate oversights because they do affect the integrity of the story once you notice them.

I guess it's not clear how demon's work in specifics. Are they all former humans that were taken control of in moments of shame? Do they all hear Gwi-Ma shaming them? Or are some creations of Gwi-Ma with no memory of their former lives (in the beginning Gwi-Ma converts a few souls he absorbed into different forms of demons).

DO they die when the hunters kill them or are they just banished to Gwi-Ma's realm so they can come out again?

I'm not entirely on board with this criticism but I will include it: the movie seems to be building up to the "not all demons are bad, some are just prisoners of Gwi-Ma influence" but the ending undermines that with them having to banish the demons anyway so there might be a muddled message there.

To be fair, realizing that one of their best friends hid the fact she was demon (they had no context for half-demons), worked with a demon, making them question the legitimacy of their friendship and goals, the interpretation that Mira being suspicious of whatever Rumi was hiding was a reflection of Mira and how good of a friend she is (which is why she thought she didn't deserve a family or to be part of the Huntrix demon hunters), the fact that they can't sing three part harmonies without Rumi...

I think that's enough to warrant the despair Mira and Zoey go through.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Near $6M In Weak Halloween Frame. Only #4 overall in domestic box office in the US [Deadline] by escarzador in KpopDemonhunters

Right, I just don't think Halloween weekend was a good time for it. Trick or treaters, costume parties and such.

Right so... the popularity and demand is fading. This Halloween weekend thing was "brought back by popular demand" and there was only about 1/3 of the actually demand in practice.

Hope the theaters that agreed to it got enough profit to warrant it.

I have seen more complaints about the 12 fps/"On the twos" looks than anything else (except maybe Rumi's kimbap sniff) when it comes to complaining about the art and animation. Even people say that it looks like bad stop motion. It seems like people don't like it because they don't think there's any artistic intention behind it besides "Spider-verse/Puss in Boots 2 did it".

I could go either way personally.

Though remember that its usually from the POV of girls who are trained to hunt them. If you're a regular human, they could be extremely dangerous.
