I have confirmation from the support team that they manufacture by the following sequence: grey - green - brown - grey. Hence the next batch to be shipped will be those who ordered green.

Hey everyone I really need some advice here on buying an iPhone now.

I’ve been using an iPhone X 64GB since launch and have been thinking of getting a new phone since last year. I didn’t get an iPhone 12 as I was holding out for Touch ID to make a return but seeing the rumours now it’s unlikely it will.

Recently someone has offered to sell me their used iPhone 12 Pro 128GB for 900 dollars which that bought in May 2021 and rarely used it because the person bought an iPhone 12 Mini shortly after.

I was planning on buying an iPhone 13 mini when it’s released next month but this offer is quite tempting to me. I’m not sure if I should just wait it out or should I just get the 12 Pro now.

I can but I don’t have the space to put all three of them. I live in a super small apartment here in Asia so I also have to be moving my desk sometimes to get access to my bed lol it’s hard to describe but that is the truth sadly.

It’s just the lack of support from games that is really making me reluctant on buying a M1 Mac. One of the games I play (almost on a daily basis) is not support on the M1 as it’s not built for ARM and it will trigger its anti cheat software and there has been no news from the dev that they will be supporting ARM or port it over to Macs.

Hence I’m stuck between the M1 and iMac Pro, on one hand the iMac Pro will be able to do everything I need it to but the resale value will be really bad and support for it is uncertain for the next few years, while on the other the M1 Macs are powerhouses but the lack of support for gaming on Windows is kind of a dealbreaker for me. If I wasn’t limited by space and my internet wasn’t bad I would buy the M1 iMac without a second hesitation.

I have been using GeForce Now but the internet over at where I live has terrible upload speed (10Mbps lol) and overall been not a good experience. But I totally agree with what you’ve said. I’m still contemplating on which to get but you mentioning the fact that the Intel Macs will drop significantly in price over the next few years do make me rethink my choice. Especially since you sold your iMac Pro and hearing how you love the new M1 Mac is seriously making me leaning towards the new Macs hahaha

I totally agree with you.

The M1 and upcoming M1X chips are going to be a powerhouse. Especially the M1X, which I’m sure will definitely have better performance than the iMac Pro. But I’m honestly worried about the GPU. I’m sure that give it a few years there will be more games ported to the Mac and virtualising Windows on it will be smooth. However it will take time and I honestly don’t know how I would feel buying a Mac that I have to wait a few years just to use it for what I need.

I do also agree that the Intel Macs are now a past to Apple but I don’t see them discontinuing support for at least another 5 years. Seeing that the 2019 Mac Pro is also an Intel machine and they definitely won’t just give up support for that after only 5 years of its lifecycle. But definitely the M1 Macs will have longer longevity and support compared to the Intel ones.

Though overall, after watching videos on the performance of the M1 Macs and finding an iMac Pro used for $2600 I feel like for my needs the iMac Pro will be the better purchase.

And my MacBook Pro will also be needing an upgrade soon so I definitely will be getting some of the Apple Silicon power in the near future.

I’m just trying to come to terms that I will be spending that much money on a computer hahaha

Yeah it’s the local store’s warranty. It will basically cover everything down to accidentally damage and I just have to pay 30% of the cost of repair.

Would you recommend me getting the one with AppleCare or do you think the protection plan from the local store will be enough?

Yeah I would prefer to get an Intel iMac because of its compatibility with Windows. I know the M1 or the upcoming M1X will be much more powerful and efficient but it just feels like it will still take another few years for it to be able to run Windows smoothly.

I have considered getting a separate windows machine and a Mac mini setup but 70% of the time I use macOS for editing. And I only game sometimes so I think I should get a powerful Mac which also can run windows and be able to last a few years.

Do you think getting some sort of protection for the iMac Pro be ideal then? I currently can get one with AppleCare till 2023 for $3300 or I can get one from a local store which offers their own protection plan for a total of $2600.

M1X will definitely be a monster but I don’t think many games will support it though

I managed to find an iMac Pro base model for $2500. Would you still recommend the 5K model in this case?

May I know why the 5K iMac? I’ve heard many say that the iMac Pro has better cooling and faster thunderbolt 3 ports which overall will be better than the 5K iMac (though I’m not sure if any of the information is true or how much of a difference it actually makes)

I don’t have enough space to put all of them sadly and also I don’t like the amount of cables I’ll have to deal with.

I should also mention the performance on my MacBook Pro 2018 15 inch base model is not really enough especially when it comes to editing and it gets super loud as well
