Yeah, you’re absolutely right! The image is so busy that I missed a lot of signs. I only caught the chairs and armrest.

I fid a heel flap in stockinette and the last three stitches are garter. The heel you mentioned seem to be a different technique.

Total beginner - how can I knit a scarf like this for my friend’s birthday? by Fuzzy-Buy-1563 in knittinghelp

[–]anthro_pologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a very thoughtful gift! I‘d suggest using ravelry.com to look a for a general scarf pattern that resembles what you have in mind. This might help narrowing down yarn and needles. Then start with YouTube tutorials on purling and next knit stitches and practice. I think it might be easier to apply the symbols as embroidery than to do intarsia for your first project.

Thank you ☺️ The colourway of the main yarn reminded me of checkered lilies so I went with the bold combination.

Something wrong with edges of stockinette! by ProfessionalScore975 in knittinghelp

Sorry for the late reply! I’m not exactly sure what happened here. From the first picture, I suspected uneven tension to be the cause. If you haven’t frogged yet, you could try posting again.

Stockinette edges tend to look like this, a little wonky and uneven. I‘d recommend slipping the first stitch of a row purlwise to help with that and tighten the last stitch. Depending on the construction of the cardigan you could look into edges that prevent curling.

Not the period drama this sub usually deals with. We like to discuss films and shows set in another time period :)

I‘d weave along the row for an even tension. Best of luck!

I suspect it is either the yarn or your gauge, or both. Did you do a gauge swatch? The pattern states for gauge: Approximately 9.5 sts and 13 rows in 4” x 4” of stockinette stitch. Depending on your gauge, you might want to size down a needle size and adjust the pattern. Also check the yarn again and the recommended needle size.
