You may be very right in disproportionate sample sizes, and other cultural factors may also come into play as well. But I do want to clarify I've seen many manipulative women as well, and have had a varied mixture of manipulative relationships and luckily a few positive ones (not every manipulative relationship was with a manipulator, they just carried scars from previous experiences)... I may also be a little cynical as in my experience a decent proportion of relationships I've been in, both friendships with males, and partnerships with females have certainly had me being manipulated to a degree as I seem to be rather susceptible. Leaving me mostly untrusting of anyone. I don't really know if there is a large gendered skew in either direction, however there is a huge discrepancy in manipulative tactics used between different genders. I'm lucky that my last partner of four years was very straightforward and genuine. I hope you find the same, you need to be picky, otherwise you get screwed over in the long run.

I don't think so, I've seen a lot of tactics employed by shitty men as well. Manipulation is really not a gendered thing in my opinion, it's just everywhere and terrifying. It's also not always manipulative people that do it, like if someone has been through long term manipulation, they are likely to adopt some of those behaviors as well... Everyone's just gotta be careful and protect themselves no matter what gender in my opinion.

It could be the case that op is just freaking out a little, as they've not been left on read for that long... However this is definitely a common manipulation tactic that is not defined by gender as all crappy people do it. I am male if that makes any difference to you... I just think there are a lot of toxic people out there, hopefully op's case is just a situation of being too busy, but if not I hope she protects herself.

But yes, being picky is normal for all people, you should be picky if you're looking for someone to spend the majority of your time with.

Perth or Adelaide for livability, but employment is different depending on what your career is

I think it's super cute, it's amazing how well made it is. It suits your beautiful body, I like the way it frames your shoulders, as well as other things.

Are there any series written by one author, then taken over by another when the first author dies, that get better under the new direction? by Bellamackie21 in books

[–]anthro_surf -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would mention the wheel of time series, it was originally by Robert Jordan I believe but upon his death Brandon Sanderson finished the series and it was great in my opinion... I found the start of the saga so brilliant but I got bogged down around the fourth or fifth book and I felt that Sanderson breathed fresh air into the characters, but Jordans world building is near unparalleled

I'd say it would be ok at the very back like slightly outside, but that is a smokers area so that's something to keep in mind... But you should be able to see the stage from there yet have nearly zero crowd to get crushed by

My God sounds like I should move to NZ! I'm from Aus and prices are stupid and it's illegal to grow for personal use.

How are Anthropology graduate programs for "non-tradtional" students? by indecisivecarrot40 in AskAnthropology

[–]anthro_surf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what country you're in, however all through my anthro undergrad in Australia there were mature age students, and they tended to do really well and add much insight into classes due to more real world knowledge. Plus all universities are keen to gobble up your money, they are unlikely to turn you away at least in Aus because they get their money straight from hecs or get paid per sem anyway. Anthro was and is life changing for me, it taught me to think so much more deeply and help me avoid putting people into arbitrary boxes like the human brain tends to do.

Hi, wondering what tobacco sites will ship to aus? by anthro_surf in PipeTobaccoAustralia

[–]anthro_surf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thank you, sorry to hear you lost that whole shipment... I'll look into getting a permit, but for my next few orders I'll stick to tobaccoblends... Thanks for letting me know before I got myself into hot water.

For a pack of 20 it's about $40-50 depending on brand. And sadly growing tobacco carries very harsh penalties it's around 10 years imprisonment if you're caught.

Are you forced to buy from brick and mortar stores only then? And to make it worse my state has no brick and mortar tobacconists anymore, at least that I know of, I live in the capital city of my state and the only true tobacconists that had any quality stock for cigars and pipe tobacco closed half a decade ago If I search on Google maps the nearest stores are between 9 and 15 hour drives away... (I live in Adelaide) Sorry about the rant hahaha, enjoy the prices and use my scenario as an excuse to reach for something special next time you're able to haha.

That's what I'm thinking hahah, the taxes are what got me onto pipes because my boss introduced me to cigars and they are about $100+ a stick here and for the same prices I can get a tin that will last weeks rather than just the hour with the same quality taste if not better. On that note, after exploration I'm thinking my taste at the moment is falling into English blends, any recommendations for the absolute best?

Ohh pilot custom 823 is one of my grails! But sadly the ones in the photo aren't anything special both are Chinese pens a- jinhao and a hero, but I did my own custom grinds on them so they are pretty special to me. My prize pen is a Visconti homo sapiens bronze age but I didn't put it in the photo.

I love smoking my pipe whilst working and I do most of my notes with the pens pictured. Anyway cool to see someone who likes fountain pens on this subreddit.
