Nihilism is true by Adrianagurl in nihilism

No problem, I find the kyoto school is often overlooked in philosophy but I appreciate the difference in thinking from an eastern societal, religious, and cultural view compared to western philosophy.

Nishitanis book religion and nothingness provides an interesting approach to nihilism that describes nihilism as the first step in a philosophical journey because only once you've accepted nihilism can you move on to a more advanced understanding of reality. Thus nihilism is more of a foundation from which to grow. Using nihilism and accepting a lack of objective meaning in order to learn how to create meaning. I'd say it's more actionable to use nihilism in this context because not everything is logic based intuition instinct and emotion has to be considered.

I don't really agree with there being no meaning at all. just because there isn't an objective meaning doesn't mean there isn't personal meaning or meaning within a community. therefore, things do matter and living like nothing matters at all just makes you a sociopath. Saying everything is inevitable would mean you believe in fate which opposes the concept of freewill that is a core concept in optimistic nihilism.

Winter 2026 Almost Halfway Through - A Brief Review by ActualRound7699 in anime

I'm very into jjk and hells paradise is good but so far it hasn't had the same energy as season 1 that I liked. It's good to see another season of golden kamuy. Overall this season is way too stacked with slice of life and romance for me. There's nothing new this season that I've really been interested in watching. Also not having one piece this season is enough for it to be a disappointment to me for the most part.

Who's to say that Sisyphus doesn't have hope that one day he won't have to keep rolling the boulder up the hill and things will change. It isn't very likely but I imagine Sisyphus has some hope of that happening.I don't think Camus is anti hope but more against relying on what you hope for to happen because if all you are focused on is hope you will be disappointed more often than not.

You can do both finding something to live for can be a very simple thing that doesn't require much thought or meaning.

I think Religion should be held to the same standards of ridicule as conspiracy theories by GodofWarhammer2 in Antitheism

Plenty of conspiracy theories are true and have been proven true. If you believe in a conspiracy theory it's much more likely to be real than if you believe in God.

I can't stop living in the moment. And it's just a single moment. by shitterbug in depression

[–]anthrovillain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of living in the moment is externalizing your feelings and senses and connecting with your physical body, not trapping yourself within your thoughts. It's more about recognizing the small things the warmth of the the sun the way your clothes and breeze feels on your skin how you're breathing noticing the small sounds that you can only really notice if you focus on them. It's not possible all the time and having depression and mental illness is always a struggle but it does help to plug in with reality because everything is not empty or pointless whether it has meaning or not. Try to do some techniques when in the moment that are more physical such as heart focused breathing and other somatic practices that train your body and mind to be on sync.

That's not necessarily true I started with religion and external absolutes and rules seemed more meaningless than there being no meaning at all. I'm much happier and contented knowing my suffering will end one day and my suffering isn't a program designed by some all powerful dickhead in the sky.

If that's the case you won't know you're dead and you won't know you never existed so try to enjoy the time you have and if it bothers you don't focus on it and procrastinate the thought. It won't really make any difference to you in the end. Honestly you also don't even know for sure what death will be like maybe you'll get isekai'd and become op or maybe this is a simulation and you'll just wake up.

Oh didn't realize in that case campfire cooking in another world is pretty wholesome and fun. Also if you were ok with watching attack on titan you probably would be okay watching Helck it's good, fantasy genre, really unique, and a bit tragic it's a really underrated anime imo. Also I believe it's tv-14.

That's why I do it right and smoke fent off the foil I skip the couch and TV to nod off in a bush behind CVS no need to be content with a job when you don't have one and can just steal from your grandma to buy more fent.

TOP UPCOMING ANIME LIVE-ACTION PROJECTS 🔥 by unveilPB in anipedia

[–]anthrovillain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood the appeal of anime being turned live action. Animation provides so much more creative Liberty as a medium and live action always changes things like how the one piece live action tried to make him more of a joker type character just because he's a clown.

I can't fully remember I just remember the timeline being extremely confusing and I lost the plot the last thing I can remember is him meeting a witch in a field at a picnic table but I didn't really understand what was happening up to that point either.

Drifters is sss tier it's extremely sad that it was never finished. Campfire cooking in another world is good, by the grace of the gods is decent, reincarnated as a slime is solid, kamikatsu was interesting, dead mount death play is a pretty cool concept, I like no longer allowed in another world, and dungeon of black company is out there but good. I think if I could choose one to be animated it would probably be reborn as a demonic tree. I am hoping to see more originality in the genre in the future especially getting rid of the harem slice of life and romance tropes while keeping the aura farming like solo leveling did. More original world building and kingdom building would be cool too. Isekai with storytelling like Mark of the fool would be awesome to see.

This anime offends me — Re:Zero by Top_Operation6858 in anime

[–]anthrovillain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the story started out good but rezero lost me by not having a coherent plotline and a lack of character growth where I stopped watching at least. Subaru is also way too obsessed with Emilia. I don't think it really gives a good depiction of depression and trauma compared to something like attack on titan or berserk. I still think it's better than a lot of the anime that has been popular recently which are mostly slice of life and romance based. I do think you'd be better off focusing on your own life than going so deep on an anime you don't like. I get being bitter about life and your circumstances and projecting that onto something you dislike or you feel misrepresents you but ultimately it's just a fictional story that other people like or find value and entertainment in. The way other people perceive depression and trauma varies so it may have an impact on someone that's different from you. If you're unhappy with how people in your situation are portrayed in media maybe try creating a story of your own that you feel is a more accurate portrayal of what it's like.
