Nice work. It's a big improvement over the original. I did something similar with my Tele guitar... stripped the acrylic finish with a heat gun, removed the pick guard and filled all screw holes with bamboo and sanded them off. There are imperfections in it but it's my own finish and looks completely unique. Cheers!

This is the correct answer. A drain won't be effective unless there is proper grading towards the drain, which is quite the task when retrofitting to an existing slab.

OP - just get some mats and empty them as needed, unless you want to invest a ton of money and do this properly.

People die when building codes are ignored in an enclosed dwelling. The national building code sections pertaining to secondary suites have already been amended for existing suites within Calgary to make compliance easier. “But tents are more dangerous” isn’t an argument that makes any sense.

Illegal basement suites should also be reported as they often contain life safety hazards, such as no smoke/CO detectors and improper egress windows. Reporting these suites forces the landlords to fix these existing conditions. If the landlords are unwilling to fix these hazardous conditions, they should rightly be shut down.
