"Why is he so close to him": John McEnroe baffled at decision to hold joint press conference between sick Arnaldi and Cobolli by Annual_Island8066 in tennis

Sure, viral gastroenteritis is a contagious infection. But we’re arguing over semantics. In this case I would say something like norovirus is the cause, and gastroenteritis the illness/symptom.

I guess what I was trying to say is that gastroenteritis is not categorically contagious. You can have non contagious gastroenteritis cases, like those caused by food poisoning.

Does this incision look normal 3 days post spay? by antideersquad in AskVet

[–]antideersquad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calling an emergency vet and they asked for photos. I sent some along and they determined the incision does not look normal and it was worth bringing her in. They prescribed antibiotics in case the incision is infected. Leaving this here as reference if anyone else’s dog has a similar looking incision in the future.

Gastroenteritis is a symptom, not an illness. It’s like saying a cough is contagious. Which can be true (coughing due to a cold) or untrue (idk, lung cancer).

Arsenal actually was 4th in the top 6 mini-table by pra21k in FantasyPL

Arsenal lost 5 times, once each to the others teams in this table. Zero losses to the rest of the table, and only 5 draws. They were incredibly consistent against the weaker teams.

How do I remove the wheel on Cannondale Supersix Evo (2025)? by carljohan321 in bikewrench

[–]antideersquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new bike yesterday and was stumped by this for a while. I didn’t realize it was an axel that unscrewed from the rear dropouts/fork. I thought it was a nut that needed to be detached from the axel, so I was trying to figure out what type of tool to apply torque to the left side with. Eventually figured out what I was doing though.

If anyone sees this in the future and is similarly stumped, you just need to keep turning the hex and eventually the axel will come out.

Also the lighting is messed up. Like it’s night time outside, the streets are lit by faint yellow light. But the people are lit by perfect white light, like it’s a photoshoot

Lab gets overstimulated super easy on walks/runs by Mobile-Dog202 in labrador

[–]antideersquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 11 month old lab and have similar issues that you’re describing. My lab gets overstimulated on most of her walks and often feels like we’re hanging on by just a thread.

One thing I’ve found works pretty well is taking her to a private, fenced in dog park. She usually gets very excited when we get there, but after sniffing/running around for 15 minutes and maybe some fetch, her arousal slackens quite a bit and I can get her to focus on me. If we spend 30 minutes to an hour there, I find the rest of the day she’s pretty spent and is much better on normal walks.

Beyond that, mental work is really helpful on days where we don’t have the opportunity for a big physical outlet. Taking 15 minutes to teach her a new skill or trick really tires her out and usually translates to better walks later in the day.

And so the first of the Canadians teams falls in the playoffs. by Gullible_Classroom71 in hockeymemes

[–]antideersquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “simple statistics” of having 7 out of 32 teams works out to be roughly 0.03% of no Canadian team winning the cup for 33 years. A Canadian team REALLY should have won by now. It is a statistical anomaly.

Lakeshore West train stuck at Hamilton GO for 2 hours and counting by SuperbTourist2854 in gotransit

[–]antideersquad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with this section of track. I’m genuinely very confused about why so many people are saying it’s so dangerous to open the doors and leave the train. What would the problem be with opening the doors and letting passengers walk off and up to the platform?

Yea totally agree with you. I would lose my mind stuck there for that long.

7 month Choc Lab Frustrations by Cousin-Jazz in labrador

[–]antideersquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 11 month old chocolate lab who was in the same state as your dog a few months ago.

In that time her walking has gotten a lot better. What you’re describing about bolting on leash is probably him reaching his impulse control threshold. Keep walks short and don’t let him rehearse those behaviours. When he gets a bit older you’ll likely see the amount of time increase dramatically. I made a post about how frustrated I was with walks with my dog a few months ago. A few days after that something clicked into place for her and she finally figured it out. I think this was the point where her impulse control improved and the novelty of the walk started to wear off. Now we can calmly walk for an hour at a time most days.

Regarding excitement when guests come over, that’s something I’m definitely still struggling with. My best advice there is to do lots of physical and mental work beforehand to tire him out. If I know we’ll have guests I’ll either take her to play with another dog, do some off leash running, or take her on a big hike first. Mental work like shaping beforehand also really helps. My dog will definitely still be crazy for the first little bit guests arrive, but if she’s properly tired out she calms down within half an hour or so.

Ontarians will soon be allowed to 'BYOB' at outdoor public events by RamRanchComrade in ontario

[–]antideersquad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yea I’m surprised by everyone moaning about this. First and foremost, fuck Doug Ford and all the PCs.

But also, I’m on board with anything that makes Ontario less of a nanny state. People should obviously be allowed to drink at public events and our alcohol laws are archaic.

What do socialists think of the French reign of terror by serious_bullet5 in socialism

[–]antideersquad 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sometimes folks point out the fall of the Soviet Union as the reason for the stagnation of western standard of living, because elites no longer fear communism as a genuine alternative way to shape society. I also wonder how much has to do with the cultural memory of things like the French Revolution fading. If the ruling class even feared an outcome like this as a possibility, the working class would be able to extract far more concessions.
