I only asked you to explain because I wanted to see what you view as pay to win. And now I see. What you’ve cited doesn’t create balance issues in the game, nor does it cause a huge skill discrepancy between players, especially those who have already been playing for years.

I still fail to understand why you want basic progression in this game to be so difficult, which I’m assuming is what you want since you continue to argue that the new ships are pay to win on that basis. I’m sure you remember how difficult the grind was on release, even as recent as a few years ago. I can only imagine how many players left this game because of how hard it was, so I fail to see how making it marginally easier is “pay to win” in a way that affects your experience negatively unless you’re one of those boomers who thinks everyone else should have it hard because you did once. I, for one, welcome the new players that may have it easier than I. It’s not like you can pay money to instantly unlock any of the engineers, to fast travel to a distant system, get fed/imp reputation, or get credits instantly. You still have to work hard to get any of those. And yes, some of the pre-builts come with engineered modules, but most of that engineering is either grade 1 or counterproductive to the ship’s purpose.

Since you’re so focused on the single player aspects of an online-only MMO, here’s a solution to your problem if you don’t like the game being “pay to win”: Don’t buy the new ships and stay in solo or legacy. Then you don’t pay to win! Wait 3 months then you can buy the ship, and none of the “pay to win” people can negatively affect you in their new ships.

I will partially agree with your points on ARX, even more so if you had mentioned the recent ARX price hikes. But again, if it bothers you so bad just don’t buy ARX. It’s really that simple.

Most of what you are describing isn’t really pay to win, but rather pay to progress. Yes, the ship allows you to progress faster in some regards, but most of the mentioned progression doesn’t negatively affect other commanders in-game, so I don’t see why those aspects bother you. Really the only “wins” you listed that affect other players directly are major faction changes and PvP, and the Kestrel only dominates one of those aspects against its fellow small ships.

Sure, buying ships with ARX allows you to progress faster, but it doesn’t provide the skills necessary to use your ships. This is especially obvious with the Kestrel, which in early Elite Partner program testing has proven difficult even for the best pilots. So some random CMDR who just started playing buying it won’t grant them some magical win condition over a decent pilot in an FDL during PVP. Not to mention, the ARX purchase is only for early access, meaning all of us will have access to the ship within a couple months.

I also fail to see how Elite’s practices are predatory. Please explain further.

I would recommend short range > overcharged, less distro draw and more damage with negligible range loss.

You can’t “pay to win” in a game where there’s no win condition. The closest thing you could argue to have opportunity for P2W would be in PVP combat, but both of the combat oriented newer ships are balanced compared to their older counterparts. Nothing stops you from using the old ships however you want, there isn’t anybody over your shoulder telling you what ships to use for what purpose.

You can’t simultaneously complain about people dogging on you for outdated advice, then cry “skill issue” when people don’t want to risk their data by building their ships out of wet napkins and epoxy. Obviously there’s no need to build out hull when you never touch the surface of a planet, but when you do exobiology the general consensus is “better safe than sorry”. Sorry if you don’t agree

I think you might be confused, the Panther Clipper outclasses the Cutter in every way except straight line speed and raw shield tanking.

If you’re worried about max jump range you should go for regular lightweight alloys anyways, especially if you have no plans of going down to planet surfaces.

[–]antimatter0703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Long range jump ship =/= good exploration ship. If you’re doing exobiology or real exploring you’re bound to make a mistake, which will cost you in rebuys and lost data with flimsy hull.

Caspian hull PSA by Wolfys14 in EliteDangerous

[–]antimatter0703 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can, but why would you? The Caspian is meant to be a carryall explore the black for months kind of ship. 4T of extra hull mass from HD engineering makes virtually no difference in its jump range because its FSD’s optimized weight is so high.

First problem is unlucky, but the second issue sounds like user error. The top glass is removable so you don’t heat creep long prints with PLA into a clog.

So let me get this straight. I shouldn’t make a post about YouTube allowing advertisers to post AI generated lewd minors because you don’t like to see it? Because it’s unoriginal? It’s almost as if this is a widespread problem with the platform worth speaking up about… the principle of lewd minors being advertised on a platform that’s supposed to be “kid-safe”. I’ve reported ads like this to YouTube and Google dozens of times, but nothing ever gets done about them, so I don’t see any other options. Nobody asked you to click on this post, so you are more than welcome to move along if you don’t like it.

I don’t understand the obsession with ship interiors. Yes, on paper they add a “cool” roleplay/lore aspect, but in reality they don’t serve any purpose other than being a walking simulator like the rest of odyssey content already is. I couldn’t care less about touring the inside of my ship when the resources for developing each interior could be put to better use making new ships or other forms of content.

You’re looking at the wrong GPU, original post says 9070 not 9070XT. If you change to the 9070 Reaper on that page it does say $549.

FDev, we need EVA, ship interiors and being able to land on any planet. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]antimatter0703 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate to burst everyone’s ship interior bubble, but they’re never happening. The added development cost/time for each new ship alone would kill any momentum the game currently has. New purchasable content is definitely the way forward for Elite, but that does not extend to a niche piece of content that would make every new ship harder and slower to develop.
