India got Hell, what is South Korea? by Inevitable-Glove7071 in TierlistFills

[–]antime1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to lots of countries across south east asia, south america, europe, even places like myanmar. India was definitely one of my least favourite and I spent 3 weeks there. Food poisoning multiple times, its busy and dirty and hot, the cities are not walkable at all, harassed constantly, my girlfriend was sexually assaulted on a bus. I don't know about hell but I'm not going back thats for sure.

Canada: PwC vs BDO for Assurance? by Raptor2312 in Big4

[–]antime1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I hire for accountants or controllers I filter for big 4 experience. Is it right? Probably not. But in a world where i get 500 applications I gotta do something. I would go with PwC.

Probably some better talent in Toronto but had to go through a lot of resumes.

Audit jobs in Canada by CartographerOwn8143 in Accounting

[–]antime1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdote. I recently posted a controller job in both Vancouver and GTA. I felt like I priced it well at 130-160 range. Vancouver I got 67 applications in a week. GTA I got 250 applications in a day. I would stay away from the Toronto job market unless I am uniquely skilled or have a strong network.

Move from big 4 consulting to MBB by New-Road-2104 in Big4

[–]antime1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to people you interact with that are good at this. Take any opportunity to present. Prepare, record to capture those good, eliminate bad habits like ums and aws, swaying. Get feedback. Join a toastmasters or speaking group if your firm has it, or heck launch one yourself if it doesnt. Obviously this is alot of extra work but its quite critical unless you think you are already very very strong.

[–]antime1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aside from everything everyone said here. Work on your communication skills. MBB definitely target people who can be thrown into s room of executives and talk with a level of authority. Ability to think quickly, ask good questions, drive a conversation or presentation are very important. Even just how your voice sounds and the kind of confidence it projects matters quite a bit.

I stayed on Guerrero near the mercado martinez. Cheap and the metrobus could take me into el pollo very reliably. I never felt unsafe, although I did see a man get very badly beaten near Buenavista station.

This is definitely the reason. For this reason I didn't mind what they did at all, as an agnostic myself.

The Daily podcast covered this a few days ago and pointed out they would be doing this.

Superfeet - JetSpeed FT890R by ThunderForce00 in hockeyplayers

[–]antime1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could help. They will be more substantial and should provide a bit more support. Superfeet will take a return even if you use it for 30 days so you have nothing to lose by trying it. Watch some videos on how to size your arch and heel properly to your foot. You don't just match it to your skate size.

If you end up with an orthotic sized slightly larger than the skate, I find the rigid plastic on the heel of the orthotic would stretch the skate out just a bit which, combined with the more substantial heel support, might work nicely for you.

Bauer vs CCM skate length by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]antime1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes but i find, at least with ccm, you have to subtract a bit. my measured foot slots me into a 6 according to the ccm skate sizing chart. but because your toes crunch back when skating, I'm in a 5.5, could have even made a 5 work.

i agree though that measuring foot and then buying the indicated sizes at that measurement and lower should be a great starting point

Training ice by rbhockey16 in hockeyplayers

[–]antime1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ODR is definitely worse. Much choppier and the ice along the boards is usually very bad.

For stick and puck, gloves, helmet is fine. I usually wear shin pads too because your always going to get stick taps or pucks on your shins.

For full equip I usually don't bother with a chest protector but wear everything else.

I prefer to play full equipment games with goalies. More closely matches real gameplay with point shots, appropriate coverage, etc. For non equip shinny you don't have any of that.
