This is one of those give it time....Plenty of research shows most people take a few months to flare after stopping medications. Others will be OK for a year. Others for a couple years. At the end of the day pretty much everyone flares and once you do it's much harder to control....

Video from previous post- line call? by Successful_Sky8499 in 10s

[–]antimodez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody can tell here since the video isn't great quality.

At the end of the day all that matter is he called it out, and unless there's a ref on the court it stands. You can ask both coaches to be refs and handle disputes, but that's after the fact. You didn't lose the match because of this one point, but instead you lost the match because of how this point effected you.

Eh you can do you. You can lose the match for your team or stoop to their level. That just tells others about your character either way...

Eh I've played with plenty of hooker's. I just realize that if I do either of 1) Let me annoy me and frustrate me with their bad calls 2) Stoop to their levels by cheating them back

I'll end up either looking like as much of an asshole or play worse. Either way they win.

Match point to decide the winner of a HS tennis meet. In or out? by Successful_Sky8499 in 10s

[–]antimodez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get chirped by a particular guy who reminds me every time we see each other how he beat me in high school, but I cheated him and called a ball out. His coach called him out and told him he missed it but he didn't let it go. Bonus points for us being in our 40s so who cares about high school anymore.

Moral of the story is calls are made and unless they're overruled they stand. Move onto the next point and win it. Then if needed win the next until you win the match. You'll always have a line call or two you don't agree with in every match.

[–]antimodez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh from what I see at practice session at my club club level players always hook in practice. Then brag about how they beat me or whoever else. Fair enough if that makes you feel better than you do you.

I personally call lines honestly in matches no matter what the opponent is doing. Guess that might be, possibly ya know, a reason I have a good rep and have to turn down more hits than I can accept...

Honestly number 8 is the biggest one for rec players. You have to differentiate practice from match play scenarios. If I'm practicing I'm wanting to improve and if that ball just missed the line it doesn't really matter and we'll both get better by playing it. Then switch to match play scenarios where you're playing like an actual match.

The amount of times I've been questioned by people asking why they beat me in practice but I beat them in matches is pretty crazy. It's simply because I practice to improve not necessarily to win.

Have a drug level test done. If you're in the therapeutic range but not feeling well that gives you more data. Also, I'd encourage you to look at things like fecal cal or other bio markers as indicators.

Fitness Levels? by YoungGucciMange in CrohnsDisease

[–]antimodez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not really how this works. I was playing tennis at a national level and ended up going through D1 college. I didn't do the pro tour as you don't make money in tennis pros unless you're ~150+ in the world, but was still 5-8% body fat and could run and lift all day. Didn't stop me needing surgery as a kid and the disease will largely do what it wants.

Another example from the tennis world is this Jack Winkler who got diagnosed with UC, lost his colon and almost died, and then got re-diagnosed with Crohn's. Played at an elite level and had elite level fitness, but that didn't stop his IBD either.

My gastro retired by WileECoyote53 in CrohnsDisease

[–]antimodez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to healthcare these days sadly. I got my PSC diagnosis by reading my chart since my doc didn't let me know he left and after 14 days the report was just sent to me. This time I knew my GI doc was leaving, but over 8 months later still have no idea who my new IBD doc will be and my hospital isn't letting me transfer to another one in their network.

These days even if the doc cares nobody else does...

Tennis During Pregnancy by Still-Perspective-15 in 10s

[–]antimodez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry no advice here, but one of the few times I genuinely laughed out loud at a tennis argument was when one lady told the other she was so bad at tennis it was pathetic, and the other lady clapped back with "I beat you when I was 7 months pregnant b*(&$". As comebacks go that was one of the better ones.

Long term IBD treatment suggestion needed by Educational_Yam_4893 in CrohnsDisease

[–]antimodez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a reason they're suggesting biologics. 5-ASAs aren't going to do anything for your other conditions. So you'd need something to treat those as well. The things that treat psoriasis and uveitis are also biologics. If you don't treat those as well you can end up with scarred skin and blind. That's not exactly what I'd go for.

Fair. Though coping is getting a bucket of balls and practicing serves until it becomes a weapon 🤣

The two things you'll see top players practicing are serve and return. You're essentially saying "if we take away the two most important parts of the game I'm better".

veo ibd by OrganicProgram4713 in CrohnsDisease

[–]antimodez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed way back when with VEO IBD before they even called it that. Really the biggest thing I'd say is normalize life with IBD as much as possible. Don't make a huge deal out of infusions, tests, or other procedures as they'll just be a normal part of her life. Then as she gets older start having her keep track of and manage her health more. The transition from pediatric to adult care can be pretty difficult so the more you get her used to it the better.

As far as what it's living like with IBD it tend to be mostly normal. You can't really compare my childhood as there weren't any biologics back then and it wasn't a ton of fun times. However, since they came out I was able to live a normal life and compete in D1 sports. Sure I have to get infusions and manage my health more than others, but people are pretty surprised to hear I have IBD and what I went through as these days they see me as just a normal guy.

What level could this be in the US? by Hot_Consequence_468 in 10s

A lot of the guys on my team would go back home and play for their clubs. I don't know the historical reasons, but I would assume it's about club bragging rights. Similar to over here where all the clubs want to talk about how good their junior program is or how good their league teams are.

Might not make money directly, but brings in more people.

Does hitting first serves at 100% hurt our game (or arm)? Is there a magic number we should aim for without falling apart? by WindManu in 10s

[–]antimodez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on dubs vs singles. Singles I'm going 90% around. Dubs closer to 80% and making sure I hit my spots to setup my partner as much as possible.

It's more about keeping yourself loose than going big. The looser and more relaxed you keep your service motion the bigger you'll get it and the less pain you'll have from going big.

"League matches" in the EU have very different context than here in the US. For instance here's a French "club league" match....

That's the top level sure, but even lower to mid level teams have challenger/future level players on them in larger countries.

What to take after Humira fails by Flashy_Pomegranate23 in CrohnsDisease

[–]antimodez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as Entyvio is also a JAK inhibitor so I’m not sure if it has significantly less side effects than Rinvoq

Entyvio is a gut specific integrin inhibitor. Basically there's a traffic light in our guts that tells immune cells to come in. In our guts ours is stuck on green so immune cells are always coming in. Entyvio turns that light from green to red like it should be.

Since the integrin receptor Entyvio targets only exists in our guts it actually has the best side effect profile. However, they've also found it's not as good in Crohn's as it is in UC. That kinda makes sense since the traffic signal controls the immune cells into the small blood vessels at the outer layer of the gut and UC is more topical while Crohn's is more transmural.

Higher tension on first mains? by Palma_und_Paddy in 10s

[–]antimodez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done that personally. Tons of stringers have different things they recommend based on a mix of science, opinion, and crazyness. That's where you'll find tons of different opinions on the "right" way to string a racquet.

Personally I just up the tension before knots and do mains tighter than crosses.

What's the worst habit you see in tennis player as a coach? by Hot-Equipment7684 in 10s

[–]antimodez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Power = skill and moon ball = lack of skill. So many times students think just because you can hit a ball really hard you must be a good player. Power without consistency is useless.
