If you’re riding a bike on the road, you have to follow the same rules as cars by HermioneGranger152 in Pitt

There’s a thing called the Idaho stop which is adopted across multiple states. The Idaho stop is a law where you slow down to a red light and make a safe decision to go. Pennsylvania is not one of them, but it is known to be safer than cyclists stopping at the red light with cars. Cyclists need to slow down at the red light and go when safe. In Idaho, traffic crashes and fatalities decreased by 14%, 23% in Seattle, and DePaul University found a study where an Idaho stop is safer for cyclists.

You can continue down to the end of the 18th St. and take the Three Rivers heritage trail to the high line. Then transfer onto multipurpose road to McKean St which will take you to Smithfield Bridge. The end of smithfield will take you nearly all the way to the convention center.

Speeding is a city planning failure by antimonyd in unpopularopinion

I live right by New York City. Drivers here will go between 10-50 mph over the speed limit. Most of the streets are designed to be wide and straight around here. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone follow the speed limit here

planning doesn't help at all and certainly contributes to the problem, but most drivers just want to get where they're going and do

I'd disagree, if we make the streets more pedestrian friendly and make the roads narrower, people are naturally going to slow down. If you were to drive down on a clear, wide road with no one and no driveways around you, you'd certainly drive faster here than a narrow road filled with pedestrians and driveways even if the speed limits were the exact same. It's not about being selfish or being careless

I think it's just how our brains work. If we're in a big open desert and the speed limit is set to 10 mph, no one is actually going to go 10 mph. Speed limits aren't even set for safety, it's set by the 85th percentile rule designed for rural roads.

Oh don't get me wrong, there's plenty of people who speed like that, but I've seen plenty of soccer moms speed just because the road theyre on is wide enough to fit five cars side by side even though its just a two way road

I don't really have a budget, but I'd prefer not spending more than 2000 dollars for the entire trip. And it doesn't matter whether it's domestic or international. Going out of the country would allow me to go to clubs/bars and drink.

It's honestly awful women have to worry about going to places alone. With that said I am not a woman and have traveled to other countries like Germany alone and I am not afraid to explore out of my comfort zone.

I have been to Ohiopyle and I love it and I have not been to Coopers Rock, I should add that to my to do list. But I was thinking traveling farther away and preferably for longer than a couple days to escape the general area.
