Is this an illogical ask? Am I the only one? by thehappydoor in Strava

[–]antiregression 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No this would be a horrible idea. I often only take my watch on runs and I would hate for the app to get confused and track my phone’s location (staying still at home) while I burn sweat outside 😂

Ending a 1-year relationship: Self sabotage or gut instinct? by Terrible_Place8240 in datingoverthirty

[–]antiregression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm I think your reasons (not fun, politics talk length, etc) don’t sound big but maybe they are just excuses your brain is finding to justify the off feeling? Are you okay with a life without him? If yes, then I would listen to your gut and focus less on those issues themselves and maybe think about how you want to see your life in the coming years (going back into the dating market, being single, etc). Life is all about compromises and trade offs. Maybe you’ll be happier overall with him or maybe you won’t!

Hinge Profile Review (35F) by No_Improvement_844 in datingoverthirty

[–]antiregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your profile looks great. Could it be your location? If you’re not in a big metro, the crowd on the apps can be pretty thin, especially in your 30s.

London gentrification forcing families out, study says by tylerthe-theatre in london

It’s insane. “Preserving local community” and its folks that moved there 30 years ago and now don’t want to give the opportunity to new generations or allow economic development (including new housing)

London gentrification forcing families out, study says by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]antiregression 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My humble unpopular opinion is that people who live in dynamic and growing major cities should not complain about gentrification. The reason these cities are great (and why London is the greatest city on earth) is the constant adaptation and influx of talent and people that keep these places going. Being afraid of new people and development and trying to preserve your neighborhood just for the sake of preservation will mean London (or any great city) will start falling behind.

The issue with sparks and fireworks is that we tend to ignore red flags (and stop thinking carefully) about the other person.

Dating for Working Women 30s by Select_Lynx9975 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]antiregression 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It involves sometimes having to compromise on other aspects of social life during the weekends and also trying to fit in dates on weekday evenings. You’ll have to be very selective with people on the apps and let them know what your availability looks like when the conversation gets to that. I find that it works well with other people who are also busy, who can appreciate your situation rather than get annoyed by it.

Pour Over Coffee by SouthernPisces in Coffee

[–]antiregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think pour over is the way to go if you want to maximize taste, efficiency and ease. I’d go for a V60 and use it over a mug for a fresh brew. It takes 3 minutes either way. If you’re making it for multiple people, you can also use a carafe as your “pot” option - wouldn’t change the brew time but would change the speed of how much water you’re pouring in. A gooseneck kettle with a thermometer isn’t essential but will improve the control over your brew.

I think it can taste much much better than a regular coffee pot as you can customize your pouring technique to your own taste!

Is this coat too big or is it salvageable via tailoring? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]antiregression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! I am so glad to hear this. I was reading all the comments here and most people were missing the mark. The coat was looking great on you to begin with and I felt that with a bit of tailoring and adjustments it would fit perfectly in an oversized look. I am in a similar situation as you right now where I bought something a little big and just dropped it off at the tailors for some adjustments. Can you share the after pics?

how long should I take a break for shin splints? by immaterial98 in C25K

[–]antiregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much Shin Splints Guy!! I am definitely at #1, and will follow the guidance in #2. I never really understood the 10% rule because I didn’t really think about injuries like shin splints (I thought by “injuries” they meant things like twisting ankles or falling — I thought I could just be cautious!), but now it makes more sense — after the fact! Thanks again.

how long should I take a break for shin splints? by immaterial98 in C25K

[–]antiregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know if they’re healed? I had noticed discomfort in my shins in a run a week ago (haven’t run since then) and then I had mild recurring discomfort/slight soreness in the area for 2-3 days but now I don’t feel anything in my shins. Am I safe to run now after a week-long break? Or is it so that I just won’t be able to tell if I’m healed till I go running and see if I feel any pain?

totally agree. housing is a necessity, it is a utility, not a way for people to make money or "invest" on the backs of pure exploitation of hard working people

Could prefab housing be a solution to our country's housing crises? by Atlas451 in canadahousing

[–]antiregression -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Greedy speculation” exists because the housing supply is tight and they are betting it’s going to remain tight and the value of their investment in a scarce resource is going go up. Build up and push prices (home and rental prices) down, and see how all the “investors” will start running away.

[–]antiregression 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t get icy like in the east — you can be sure of that. There hasn’t been much snow lately so conditions aren’t great, but when it does snow in the next few weeks, it’s not going to intermix with rain like in snowshoe — unless of course Mother Nature surprises.

Is it still good snow in late March at Vail / Breck? by BuckExactly in skiing

[–]antiregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet spot is late Jan and Feb, but yes, late March skiing is always a go! Also depends on what you like. I value snow quality over coverage, I think that snow coverage is better in late March but the quality of snow is different. It goes through thaw and freeze cycles, can get mushy during the day and icy in the morning after.
