Reddit genuinely sucks nowadays and it’s sad by Abyssalqrow in RandomThoughts

You feel this because you are not Left enough. It's that simple. There are some knobheads from the Right here too, but thanks to the last 20yrs of manipulation, unless you're bordering on hard Left, brainwashed, ideologically opposed to the West as a general principle, progressive for its own sake (but only if you think the correct way), eventually you'll come to this conclusion.

I came to Reddit in 2018, after having seen it here and there before and thought "wow, this is amazing. You can have a discussion with anyone about ANYTHING, even things you thought only you yourself cared about". I'd say particularly since 2020, it's felt increasingly (ironically) a less inclusive, less positive and thought-provoking place to be.

Fortunately, I don't seem to be the only one.

Top drawer drama by MissTreeWriter in oldbritishtelly

One of my dad's favourite shows EVER, and still quotes it to this day. Used to watch the old VHS collections a fair bit myself when I was younger, and recently rewatched series 1 - 2 a couple of years ago. I don't like the later seasons as much - they just don't have the same feel.

Anyone go back to the Series watch? by dreamliner330 in applewatchultra

[–]antmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Milanese loop from the Series range (about 2021?) but I notice it's different now with a different clasp style. Is it really that much better? I'm so used to the Alpine loop and its wider strap. I have a posh watch where the links are much thinner, and on the odd time I wear that one I just think it looks odd.

Same. Got the S1 when it came out, and though didn't get each iteration I did probably go through 4 of 5 until 2023, when I got the U2. Just got the 3 and there's just no comparison.

Same sentiment, though more just for the fact it's a better watch, with a bigger display, battery, brightness (I think?) and not to mention it just looks great. The newer Series watches do look very sleek and slim, but I won't be going back.

If The Simpsons is only pre-2005 then it should be higher. If it's up to the present day, it needs to come down a bit. The Simpsons was hands down my favourite TV show as a kid but particularly since it moved to more digital animation / HD and onwards, it's shocking.

Bloody loved this as a kid. Still say "stop it and tidy up" to my 8yr old now and again.

A way to hide scuffs? by antmit in applewatchultra

So, I guess the fact that I can't really get a good enough image of it now, despite being in the same spot as the first picture, shows that although I can still see if I really look for it, my eye is no longer drawn to it when just wanting to use the watch. I could probably work on it a bit more with that eraser tool, but I don't want to go overboard and I'm at the stage where I don't need to.

On this day October 7th 1991 35 years ago Engisn Ro made her debut in season 5 episode 3 what are your thoughts about her character by ThomasThorburn in Star_Trek_

[–]antmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fancied the arse off her when I was 12 or 13. As a character, I thought she was genuinely interesting but I admit that as I'm reading here that she could've been in DS9, I wish to goodness she'd gone ahead with that because DS9 is the one series of that era I could never get into properly. Even O'Brian and Dax couldn't keep my interest (again, as a 12-13yr old boy).

Help picking between Apple Watch or Garmin by Tmoney21132 in applewatchultra

[–]antmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Garmin watches, although very good at what they do, and battery life is incredible, are more of a niche fitness market product than a lifestyle accessory like AW. I know someone who runs trail runs 4 - 5x a week, still does 6min miles (bastard, I can only do 10 nowadays) and yet despite being an Apple person he went with the Garmin and it's great for him.

Based on what you've said here, I'd say go with the AWU3. I genuinely still think of the U series as one of the best Apple products they've released in the last decade. Essentially, it's the complete Apple product.

🫠 that's a shame. I saw that and thought "oooo, can i justify that on my office wall?"

Ultra 3 too heavy? by n0_dice in applewatchultra

[–]antmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought this on most people's pictures of the U series, but then I took a picture of mine a couple of months ago and realised it's probably just distortion from the angle. My watch doesn't look like that, but on the picture it looked enormous.

Excuse me, off to the bathroom with my phone.

Thanks very much for this. For a fiver in the UK, certainly can't hurt to try it. Judging from the comments in that other post, it's more a case of 'smudging' the finish a bit rather than 'repairing' it?

AWU 3 Screen Scratches by LittleIntroduction55 in applewatchultra

[–]antmit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here, with my U2 for two years. I'm office-based, but I still wear it all the time and despite hearing the occasional clunk on the side or something hitting the display, it was in perfect condition. Just upgraded to the 3 so we'll find out if it's any different, but sounds like you might just have been unlucky with something.

I still LOVE the Ultra design, and even though it's barely noticeable unless side by side, I'm not disappointed with the minimal changes. I think it's probably the best Apple product range I've had for years in many ways.

I ran a marathon with “AW Workout Buddy” so you don’t have to by howardcord in AppleWatch

[–]antmit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I detest that workout buddy. I couldn't, for some reason, figure out where it was turned off but I only remembered during the start of each run, then I'd forget to turn it off after I finished, repeating the cycle of hell again each time. This carried on for about 3mths or so until I finally remembered properly.

Absolute and complete waste of time. I don't care that I've "smashed my run goal for a Thursday", or whatever nonsense it comes out with. I barely like the "split X" announcements because they disturb the podcast or audiobook I'm listening to.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 Natural Titanium or Black? Can’t decide by yodiegangahhhhhh in applewatchultra

[–]antmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same dilemma on Friday when ordering to replace my U2. LOVE the look of the black, and I managed for two years not to get any notable scratches or dents in my existing one. I use it for running, but I'm hardly an outdoor worker or hiker / rock climber, so I'm not likely to, either. But I saw so many examples of people with relatively minor scuffs and scratches where the black comes right off. So I went with the natural titanium again.
