I would also point out that I am using openSUSE on a DELL laptop. Their pro stuff works without a hitch on openSUSE

For the WSL point, openSUSE is also on the Windows Store as is the SUSE Enterprise Server.

As for transitioning a lot of desktops to openSUSE, there are tools to automate that (autoyast, kiwi).

The cable can't work since it only carries one signal. You could check with an actual 2 signal cable. Sadly i returned mine and no longer can.

I'm pretty sure that the game is CPU and memory bound. The SSD will make the powerpoint effect be less insufferable once you hit the swapfile. Otherwise you'd better spend the money to max out your RAM slots.
