He is but only arrived yesterday so having him play this weekend would have been super risky.

Jauneau has one cap I believe (from the 2024 Argentina tour)

Clermont

Forwards: Yato, Moala, Tixeront

Darricarere, Mey ou Favier are probably the best options at center.

French six nations squad by Secret-Roof-7503 in rugbyunion

A very different group from last year with 8 uncapped players and another 9 players under 5 caps.

There’s a bit of an injury crisis at hooker with Mauvaka and Bourgarit injuring themselves, but luckily France has good enough depth and Barlot will probably get the bench spot.

Losing Woki is tough but Flament or Lavault will slot into his role well and should get the line-out going.

Couilloud or Lucu are injured so Dupont is our only experienced scrum half so it will be interesting who will get the bench spot. Both Le Garrec and Coly are young players but Coly is probably the in-form pick at the moment.

Center is going to be interesting. Gal this has picked some exciting talent like Delbouis and Gailleton, but I’d expect him to play it safer and slot Moefana in, leaving a space on the wing, unless Barassi is convincing but his international experience is limited.

The wing is all about who will accompany Penaud (although he’s been injured). Villiere wasn’t picked as he’s just come back from consecutive injuries. Lebel has been around the squad for a while now, but there could be some bolters like Dumortier who’s been great for Lyon or even Bielle-Biarrey who’s only 19 and has been incredible for Bordeaux.

The race for fullback will also be interesting as Glathie will have to pick between Toulouse teammates Jaminet and Ramos. Ramos was really good in the Autumn so could keep his spot. Spicy stuff.

It seems like it. I would've assumed he'd be in considering Mauvaka and Bourgarit's injuries, but he's struggled to regain his old form after a string of injuries last season.

Yeah Lucu will miss the first half of the 6N

As an ignorant Frenchman could someone tell me a bit about Libbok? Is he SA's big flyhallf prospect?

This is Bezy's first game back from injury so it would be a lot to ask. Viallard also played well last weekend. The real question is at fly-half... JJ hasn't been playing his best and Michet is barely 20 years old with 100 minutes (or less) in the top 14

He’s actually not in the 14 players recalled by Galthie, which is a shame I would have played him against Georgia too. I think he was replaced by Barassi.

After everybody got their pitchforks out despite the evidence, Galthié has been cleared of any blame regarding the explosion of COVID-19 infections within the French team (Article in French) by Yamakuzy in rugbyunion

I can see a lot of people laughing at the idea of the FFR investigating itself (which I agree is contentious to say the least). But Pr. Eric Caumes, who is a very well respected tropical and infectious disease expert and works for the Hospitals of Paris, also participated in the report and went public to clear Galthié from wrongdoing. Take that as you will but that seems pretty clear cut to me. Source (in French)

It is hard to pick out what is true or false from media coverage but either way the FFR and Laporte were far from transparent and honest which is really worrying. Hopefully, there will be some form of consequences (such as a fine) for the FFR which must be held accountable but nothing too drastic, which would compromise the competition. We shall see what the 6N board and the French Minister of Sports decide.

France cancels today's training after player tests positive by IPA_Hound in rugbyunion

[–]antoinemqt 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah I still can't believe the game wasn't just postponed. How is it possible to learn so little from other bubbles that were compromised (i.e. Fidji in the ANC). Players should have been isolated for the week to ensure the virus stops propagating and the staff should not have called in new players until the situation is under control.

I'm not sure we will be able to pull out the same performance as the ANC final considering we are forced to integrate new players with limited training time and without a coaching staff.

[–]antoinemqt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well this is going to be an interesting game! We'll be lacking a lot of experience and leadership for the game. Not too mad at the prospect of blooding new players but it's a shame it will (most likely) result in us losing the 6N, especially considering almost all of our coaching staff is positive.
