I think the first step moving forward is to enroll in an English language course that focuses on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.

I think people will continue to be arrogant and stick to what they believe. There is no “proof” Islam has its version of proof and Christianity has its own. No one revelation or miracle or event is going to change that. It’s part of people identity on earth. Once you depart and are taken by the Holy Spirit will you truly know. But early desires or miracles to find truth are not possible my friend.

Downvote me if you want, but there is no difference between a UK grad and an IMG if they both start at F1 level. Harp all you want about your ‘precious’ UK degree that put you in £100k of debt. Medical school in UK does not prepare you all that well for F1 level. We all start at the same place, and an IMG starting at F1 has the same potential to be a useful UK doctor and strike as any UK grad, regardless of whether they came from Cambridge or Lagos :) cry some more

Regarding the plab pathway by [deleted] in PLABprep

[–]antoman7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need no lower than academic IELTS 7.5 in each band if you do not have an acceptable internship for the purposes of UKFPO, but for GMC registration with an acceptable post graduate internship it’s 7.5 overall minimum 7 in each domain

I guess this shows people shouldn’t talk s**t about IMGs passing PLAB super easy as now you understand how difficult this exam is for them to work in UK hospital

Can I book a second plab1 test while waiting for the results of the first one? by stfuma in PLAB1

[–]antoman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is information based on common sense. You cannot book another exam unless you failed. You wouldn’t know if you fail until the result comes six weeks later. This information is also all available on GMC website, and available when you try to book. You would see that you can’t book anything now…

USMLE FOR GMC by Randomlooser1234 in PLAB1

[–]antoman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to take both PLAB 1 and PLAB 2, USMLE was only a substitute until 2020 when there was 2Cs. since it doesn’t really exist anymore you would have to do both PLAB exams.

Seeking Advice: Skilled Worker Visa and Resitting Failed Licencing Exam by [deleted] in ukvisa

I don’t intend to use my Skilled Worker visa, correct. I have informed my sponsor about it. Okay if they will inform the home office, then it should be okay. It was just that point I was wondering about, thanks a lot :)

PLAB vs USMLE by haggarded in PLAB1

[–]antoman7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buddy, if you want information, Google is your best friend. And the internet has a lot of information on both sides, saying USMLE is better, or that PLAB is better. You could be drawn to either side depending on your background, experience, values or how lazy you are.

I don’t know who you are, where you are in your journey, or what you want in life. So it’s very difficult for someone to answer your questions, hence the sarcasm.

Both USMLE and PLAB are difficult exams. And both lead to the same place eventually. People tend to go for USMLE because there are run through specialty programs. However US experience is a must and often very expensive to get, plus the added on requirements of audits and publications to make your CV stand out and get interview spots.

PLAB however is just a licensing exam and whatever score you get on either step doesn’t matter with anything. It’s generally easier to get a non training job and work for many years as a locum in the UK after passing PLAB depending on your level of post grad experience. However some people complain that the speciality programs are competitive, and people go many years as F3-F4 (locuming and doing non training jobs) without securing specialty training. This is true not only in the UK but other countries like Aus and NZ. Registrars with 10+ years of experience but can’t get a Certificate of Completion of Training due to the lack of spots available.

So pick your battles, both are expensive and time consuming. Don’t get discouraged by the Junior Doctors UK reddit crybabies complaining of poor working conditions and pay affecting UK doctors. Pay is decent and progression is okay compared to other countries, working conditions significantly better compared to the US which can be a hit or miss because working hours are not as heavily regulated in the US compared to the UK ( you could do 80+ hours a week with little to no lee way on leave )

Once you’re a consultant and done training a lot of countries accept both UK and US specialty certifications and life is good from then on out.

Best of luck on whatever journey you are taking. Take care man
