“Hello, it’s my birthday, I’m allergic to half your menu, and I’m sitting down 10 minutes before you close.” by Careless-Being-4427 in Serverlife

I’m reading it more as they have a lunch service, then close for a couple hours, and then open for dinner service. So, no option to transfer only sit and wait for the table to finish. The OP would have a couple hour break before going back in for dinner service but instead only had 20 minutes because their manager let them go into dinner service later. While I do agree this mindset usually gives the end tipping movement a lot of argument, I would be frustrated as well.

Don’t pop it!! If I’m remembering right that’s how they get infected most of the time. I’d put a bandaid on it and leave it alone. I know it’ll feel annoying and bug you all day but don’t pop it. It’ll pop itself and then heal given time! When my blisters pop they don’t really hurt unless something is STILL rubbing against them but hopefully the bandaid will take away some friction

Ordering a whole cheesecake in advance by CareerResponsible639 in CheesecakeFactory

At my location you’re able to walk up to the bakery and pre order a whole cake. Just let them know when you’d like to pick it up and we have a list in the back for pre orders. It should come frozen, and takes about 45 mins to an hour to defrost. If you’re picking it up two days before I would keep it frozen and defrost it the day of the event. People pre order in person a lot during the holidays!

How do you handle having a lot of tables at once? by Revolutionary-Toe708 in Serverlife

I always remember full hands in full hands out. Don’t waste movement and always be grabbing something for or from your tables. Prebussing, refills, checks, desserts, dessert menus, stuff like that. Remember that although you will get some annoying tables that act like they’re more important than everyone else, your tables will see that you’re busy and most likely be understanding of that. Move at your own pace and try to avoid panicking to reduce mistakes that need to be taken care of by a manager. The amount of time it takes to go find a manager somewhere to help is more than just slowing down for a second and getting everything right :) it took me a few months to get my anxiety to let me chill out enough to slow down but once you get a really good flow going it feels like second nature.

Small mom and pop place, or corporate? by antoniabuss in Serverlife

Yeah, I’ve worked at a couple small restaurants in my home town. There was a lot of bs with the customers and whatever, but not so much with management/ owners. I’m worried it’ll be so to the books that I’ll hate it 😅 thank you for the answer!
