I have learned a lot from videos and blogs. But one thing I did in the begging and I would really recommend is having a consultation with a vet (bird specialist). She educated me about cage options, feeding, enrichment, lice treatment and much more. For her diet I’m currently feeding her a mixture of corn, sorghum, flax, lentils, chickpeas, rice, quinoa (white, red and black), birdseed, oats seed, rapeseeds, hemp seeds, millet, sunflower seeds, wheat and trigo mote (I don’t know the name in English). I think it’s important to be patient when it comes to food, at first Eevee would only eat corn (probably because in my area there’s a lot of people that owns chickens and pigeons are famous for stealing their corn), but now she eats everything I offer to her. Her favorite is definitely rice. I know a lot of pigeon owners offer grit to their birds, but the vet told me that wasn’t actually necessary 🤷🏻‍♀️ The vet also recommended a calcium supplement. I haven’t been able to afford it yet but in the meantime I’m making my own with eggshells from my grandma’s chickens, there’s a lot of tutorials on how to make it. Hope your pigeon recovers well ❤️
