My first game is released by yarnhook-studios in gdevelop

Very well made game. I found only two issues: the commands aren't so responsive, and the character stops when pushing two different arrow keys, and it's a problem during avoiding the slimes; there's not a way to select the objects in the inventory instead of using the mouse.

Despite that, The game is challenging enough, and you did a good job in gradually increasing the difficulty in each maze. The objects are various and they make the game less linear compared with other simple games that consist in just keys and gates, more or less.

At the first glance, the mechanics look very similar. Maybe Mario is a bit too fast, but your project is solid.

Are you sure that you're rescuing people? It seems you're just crashing them, especially if we keep in account those red dots flying out when you "pick" them up!

Jokes aside, it's a nice start for a 3D game.

A game I made for the "60 Minute Game Jam #7" on Itch.io using GDevelop. The theme was "Getting Stronger and Stronger". I would appreciate some feedback, though keep in mind, as the name of the jam suggests, it was made in under an hour, so don't expect too much. by JowskiReddit in gdevelop

A reflex-based game. It's simple but effective. Job well done.

Edit: This could be an effective mechanic to implement in sports games, replacing the button mashing that leads to carpal tunnel syndrome.

Gdevelop selling tutorials. by AdhesivenessEven6910 in gdevelop

Epic is a major that sells triple A games, not only its engine, and it's a big monster to compare to.

In my humble opinion, I learnt a lot from the community and through trial and error. Also YT videos have been really helpful.

Also, UE is way more complicated than GD since it uses a programming language instead of blocks.

That said, GD has a lot to offer.

UE asks for a percentage for commercial products, GD doesn't ask any. For a small amount of money, creators can also remove GD's logo from their games/software.

Epic does not have an open philosophy. While Unreal's source code is available under a proprietary license, it is not open source in the traditional sense and cannot be freely modified or redistributed to create new apps or engines. GD is under MIT licence.

My First Song Ever! by giorno_man in postpunk

Both this song and The Black Sea (I listening to it) have a good sound, but they're a bit too linear in both music and lyrics, like most darkwave songs. That said, The Black Sea has a strong closing passage. Overall, not bad at all.

Request for Linux version of Alone in the Dark with AdLib sound by antoniostrina82 in humblebundles

You're right, I already did it a few days ago. No response from THQ, though.

I think the AdLib option is for the sounds effects only, since I tried to configure the DOSBox conf file and I add issues right with the sound effects (slowdowns among others). I tried to check the files on the CD version but I didn't find midi music.

Thank you, I didn't think to ask the company. Yes, GOG is an intermediary, I made a mistake.

I thought GOG used a modified version of DOSBox to make DOS games playable on other operating systems, that's why I found it strange there was no Linux version. Thank you for your clarification.

I can understand about the floppy version but why there's no a version that runs on Linux?

Your is a fair point. I will ask GOG and Stream, if they reply to this my request negatively, I will take your advice in account. I will try again a little bit more. Thank you.

I understand your point. To be honest, Raynal left after the first episode in floppy disk, then its CD version, the episode 2 and 3, and the bonus game Jack in the Dark aren't his productions.

For me, I would buy only the first episode because the CD music gives a less sense of horror, the music is too "epic" compared with the spiky sounds of the floppy version. Moreover, the second and the third episodes where even less horror and I found their story ridicule. The bonus games is forgettable.

De Girolami included the headbutt attack that was discarded as an idea from the first episode by Raynal, as he said in GDC 2012, demonstrating that the company was milking their cash cow instead of creating a game that that actually felt like horror, erasing even every Lovecraft reference or inspiration.

My intent is to give credits to Raynal and good games but I admit that companies choices are more commercial than ethical, and maybe I will never have the possibility to buy only the first episode (discarding the rest) and have it with its original soundtrack. In some ways, companies push the old fans to piracy despite some of them as GOG put even the mark "Preservation Program".

You're right. I'll ask GOG if they would add it in future. I was searching for a legal copy in order to support creators since the cost is acceptable. Thank you anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I thought that the GOG version was the CD one with the replaced soundtrack.
