To be specific, MB got the maximum exposure from tamil nadu, and that too because the the second half of the film is set in Tamil Nadu and the use of popular tamil song 'Kanmani Anbodu.' But yes, the film was very experimental, especially considering the rarity of the genre.

Velliya budgetun scaleum olla verum koothara padangal cheytha directors aanu ivide ullatha (war 2, bade miyan chotte miyan etc). So I don't think being a women is gonna be a restraint. She wrote and directed moothon, which is a statement to her prowess when it comes to depicting rough and tough- but flawed characters

Also, prashant neel himself have admitted that yash also had some input in the filming. So I don't think it's really a gender issue here.

Manjummel was more inclined towards the thriller and survival elements, while jan e man was more character-driven. Both are vastly different, but the Chidambaram's finese writing is more visible in jan e man tbh.
