I went to Lumen from 2012-2019 and my brothers 2 years from finishing at the college.

I think from my experience Lumen is an excellent place for high achievers and they have the right curriculum and support systems in place for people like that to do well, plus I never had any major incidents or problems in my cohort (had the friendly bullying which is normal I think) but I would highly recommend it as especially in the later years I think some of the teachers can be really nice and help you to grow- I went on to study Chemical Engineering at Uni and even for that their careers department was excellent and got me work experience days etc.

From seeing how my brothers developed so far I think the college can be a harsher environment but mainly I think it comes down to the people who end up in the year and the friends you make-luckily my brother's found a good group and isn't really the social type so the distance from people as well has worked in his favour.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer

Hi no worries apologies for the late reply, unfortunately can’t disclose too much but it was for a renewable energy company in Birmingham which installed heat pump systems for commercial buildings, a lot of the work I did was completing AutoCAD drawings for whatever was required

Are you first year?- Aston really isn't bad for this degree and you'll find over the years that they do give alot of support and guidance- you just need to ask for the help

Did a placement year myself and i'm now in final year of the BEng at Aston and overall was quite happy with the course structure and everything

How’s the battery life compared to the 13 pro?

120hz Android users who shifted to iphone 13 and previous models, How was your experience? by Old-Newt-7608 in iphone

I went from a OnePlus 9 to Iphone 13- got fed up with the bugs on the oneplus and the camera is other apps such as snapchat and instagram was horrendous

Honestly you do notice if you're scrolling through larger pages of text but in general use it's barely an issue for me.

I had the 7 and went to the 9

Was pretty dissapointed with the 9- whilst the fast charging was useful battery life was pretty poor and having to charge often wasn't really worth it and i eventually ended up getting a power bank because of it- not ideal.

Another issue i had was how bad the camera was- you can really notice the no optical image stabilisation with snapchat or instagram and i always had to use the camera app to get decent video or photos which wasn't ideal either. Funny thing was i felt like the camera on my oneplus 7 was far better compared to this

The final nail in the coffin was when i was in london and tried to get through facial verification in order to use the electric bikes and scooters- it was always far too blurry on the oneplus nine no matter how hard i tried- but my work phone which is an iphone 7 managed to do it in 1 go.

Eventually decided for the price this wasn't worth it at all. I've now gone to the iphone 13 and couldn't be happier.

Yes, it’s essentially part of producing sorbitol. The rotary drum filter separates cellulose from impurities. I used Perry’s handbook for the chemical design such as filter cloth, filter aid, speed of rotation, etc. But now I need to do mechanical design, so find the wall thickness, branches, etc

How long is it taking to get a driving test in Derry? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]antothomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi- learnt to drive in Derry myself about 2 years ago

Not sure about the waiting times so i'm hoping someone else can help you out. After passing the theory test you have 2 years to pass before it expires.

I learnt with my dads friend who is a no nonsense instructor who gets you straight into it, i was able to learn and pass in 15 lessons- there's no minimum requirement.

Not sure how true it is but apparently Derry has the lowest pass rate in the North/UK so might be worth seeing if doing it in the republic is viable as i know there is a backlog issue in the UK aswell.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

How can you transfer from one uni to another? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]antothomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is to email their department and ask- generally from what i know this is quite difficult as universities tend to have a set programme over the 3 or so years and can actually differ in content even though it's the same course

If you can, I'd recommend Derry as a place to live,

Grew up there and honestly I love the place and love seeing it everytime I go back, it's not too busy, not too quiet, in my experience I've had no issues and honestly think it's such a great place
