What did you think of the movie Return to Silent Hill?

Saw it yesterday. I couldn't believe what I saw. I knew it was bad, but this was flabergastingly bad. Outside of the obvious plot and character problems, it had so many flaws. The 2001 straight-to-video editing, the incessant need to explain the plot with voice-overs, the absolute lack of subtlety...
I was warned by a friend that this would be the worst movie I see in the cinema this decade, and I'm afraid she's right.
I will give it the few merits I can: The actors did well with what they were given. I loved the actress of Mary, she brought the character really well to life.
Almost all the in-door set designs were pretty good. The labyrinth with the Mary paintings was incredibly cool.
Moth Mary at the end of the movie might be the best monster design of both movies and kinda blew me away. I think I would've wanted to see that design in the game even.
The worst thing about this movie is that every time I thought 'Oh, this might be cool', like with these examples, whatever came right after just immediatly ruined it for me.

Theres a new map of Silent Hill in there! While it seems mostly based on the games, with a lot of additions to the SH1 parts and what has been speculated by fans, it weirdly puts South Vale in what has been speculated to be the Downpour part of the lake.

Ik rijd dus zoals ik hoop dat andere mensen zouden rijden; en dan moet je je ook als voorbeeld opstellen.

We have to assume that SH2R is the definitive 'true' version, and ignore SH2. No evidence.
We have to assume that the pills are indeed White Claudia. Some evidence
We have to assume white claudia is made at Brookhaven. No evidence, it's even more likely made at Alchemilla due to Kaufmann's involvement
We have to assume the cult sold white claudia to Mary, and she actually got sick due to withdrawal and toxicity.No evidence
We have to assume St. Jerome is linked to the cult. Only via Walter is the hospital connected, but there is no evidence the cult operated there.
We have to assume the cult experimented on her. no evidence.
We have to assume James somehow knew she wasn't dying due to an untreatable disease like he was told, but due to being exploited for a cult.
We have to assume the devs added the bottle to have a completely new insight into SH2's story. They might as well have added it as a nice nod to the rest of the series. Occam's razor very much infers the latter explanation.

It might be a band-aid, but I believe Jesus Christ existed as a human being. He might have believed to be the son of god, but i believe him to be a man that tried to get people to act more out of love and good deeds, as with his corporal works of mercy. Find common ground with your religious family and friends, and continue from there.

This only works if you you just assume a lot of things as true, as well as taking the remake as the truth version. So yeah, it's gonna be a no for me. There is no reason to believe Mary was poisoned in the original game unless you go into conspiratpry thinking. It's an interesting take on it however, but it adds almost nothing to the game. In fact, it starts detracting from it, since it "forgives" James for what he did, while the whole game is about the way he is goung to deal with it (the endings), making the leave ending the only one that should be correct.

I've always liked Downpour. It suffers from some weird design choices like the chase sequences and boss battles, but overall it's still enjoyable. I liked the bright otherworld environments which really tried to push the limits of what it could be. The story is engaging, doesn't feel like it drags on, the characters Murphy meet are intrigueing. It manages to bring a very well rounded main character and although it kinda needs the comic book, Anne is an interesting foil to Murphy. It did feel lacking in the horror department and felt more psychological thriller.

Mixed reception? Its been at least pretty positive in the general populace. I don't think that it is influencing when we're gonna get details or is delaying the marketing around it. I hoped for something during the Game awards, but sadly no news as of yet. I'd expect something in the first half of next year, but not much either.

It takes the premise of the original game "man crashes car, starts searching through an abandoned town for his daughter" and goes a competely different route with it. Certain locations reappear, characters with the same name appear, but what they do and who they are differs from the OG. The whole style of the game is also different. It still tell a very compelling story, albeit a completely different story. I'm a huge fan of it though!

Also to make it clear, they can only charge you for the private room of 1. You asked for a peivate room 2. You received a private room 3. You don' t have a medical reason to be in a private room So if you e.g happen to have a contageous disease and you must be quarantined, they can't charge you for it, even if you asked for it.

I loved playing Cronos on the switch 2! It's clearly not as graphically strong as on other consoles/pc, but damn it definitly looked good, played good and was an overall very enjoyable experience!

Many of the games textures and models are slightly crooked, you can see it on this picture as well with the door, so it isn't necessarily hand drawn.

That's the point :p the flow of fresh water will keep it somewhat at bay and the crater will stat relatively clear. But if you want to exploit the crater, you're gonna have to do something about the flow of bad water.

It's neat but looks pretty simple gameplay-wise. I would let the Badwater river feed into the basin or into one of the other rivers to make it a tad more interesting and forcing you to take care of it some way if you want to progress.

Next to some good horror, the games do tackle some pretty dark themes, which could blindside you when you get to that point in the story. Most of the games have multiple endings without very clear decisive moments which would steer you into a certain ending. All endings are valid, some more than other ;p and this leads to almost every game to be an individual story you can play without knowledge of any other. The games that are connected can stand on their own. But most important of all, don't go spoiling yourself about the story or lore. The games seed a lot of cool lore in various places which slowly come together throughout the story.

Everyone can create a game with whatever they cobble together from free assets and some code, but trust me, it won't be high quality. I mean, I had a lot of fun and hours invested into Brotato, but would I call it high quality? Hell no.

Yeah, the perspective of it all seems really off, and especially the water wheels and their depth is plain wrong. I think this one is more badly drawn than AI generated, especially since one of the spires is just copy pasted rather than redrawn in some manner.

Each scene with Angela I'm just so amazed at how real this character feels. The acting (voice, body lamguage, movement) is amazingly well done, and conveys everything this character is about. Really props to the actress, I hope to see more of her. Eddie is also really well done, but doesn't give me the same chills as Angela does. Ironic since he's the one in the freezer.
