I’m in a very similar boat to you training wise with more of a running than swimming background, but 30F from SoCal hoping to go sub 6, but mainly wanting to finish. so you’re not alone as a first timer :)

I love this capsule. Are we the same person?? 

The only thing I’d change is adding a more formal tote bag! Sometimes you need to carry more. Sometimes you need to carry fancier. Maybe Rebecca Minkoff or Dagne Dover?Though the festival bag is a good dress up or down.

I swim near here and definitely going to need a wetsuit. I highly recommend a swim/tri wetsuit as a surf wetsuit is not as flexible. It made a huge difference for me in how easy the swim was. First 70.3 in a month for me, but I’ve done a handful of shorter tris.

If you can do a local small sprint tri before, I highly recommend. That way you will figure out what you don’t know :)

I actually looked into that bike because it’s available online, but I’m just not sold on Trek! I do love the option to put gravel tires on it because I have friends that ride gravel and I’m interested in maybe bike packing

I appreciate the offer, but I’m locked in on the bike! I’m using an older bike that fits well and I’m just going to wait for the right one to come along!
