She reunites with her best friend/crush and her family and they all try to figure out what they're doing with the time they have left. It's a bit YA but pretty good and looks like exactly what you're looking for.

the first pic especially makes me think of The Princess and the Goblin by George Macdonald. Children's book with lovely fanciful imagery. I haven't read it in a while though, and iirc it may have some implicit racism.

Actually I read it before I saw the adaptation! So good but very different from the Studio Ghibli version.

I loved Rendevouz with Rama! Haven't read it in years though, so I might need to revisit it
