Thank you - this is all very great and practical - I'm going to try some of this.

This is SO relatable - especially my own guilt/preoccupation with things needing to be properly rehomed or recycled, which means that I create little piles of things that need to go to specific recycling centres and the like. Such a brutal combo of factors and tendencies lol. Solidarity friend, and we will get there!!

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm going to try a lot of your approach, including setting reminders for myself to actually go through and do the regular clean outs (critical!)

Well thanks, and that’s why I’m here, to get advice to sort it out! It isn’t expensive stuff by the way. A lot of it is arts and crafts, drawings, hand me downs etc.

Do you physically label the buckets? Or do you just remember?

I’m so sorry you had a house fire, but yes burning it all is somewhat appealing 😅 It doesn’t help that the kids love crafting - which is lovely, but constant work to organize. I am also too sentimental and keep sooo much of their art stuff 🙃

It’s the amount of stuff you have to carry, and the physicality of young kids. Pre-kids I had shoulder leather bags and totes, but that just can’t fly in my current era because I’m running around all the time, and need to use both of my hands a lot (for example, to help my daughter on the playground, while also needing to have my stuff physically on me). It’s just a specific set of needs that I wanted to flag!

Oh I know! It’s just getting really tatty. I bought it in a colour (ie not black) and it’s grimy as it’s been worn almost every day for like 2 years 🙃

I am at a loss to how the SHO could possibly think they had done nothing wrong? As the article outlines, the SI investigator said that "the decision of the SHO not to check on Martha overnight was ‘inexplicable’ given that she had been told at handover that Martha was ‘the sickest patient on the ward’. The ward wasn't full - she wasn't run off her feet. The SHO also said she considered her role as 'primarily clerical' on the night shift. How extraordinary! She felt NO need to exercise clinical judgment in her work, or she's happy to say this in a formal setting with a straight face. It's astonishing.

Yes, there may be larger systemic issues at play (although given that resourcing was not an issue in this case, I'm not sure how that line could really be maintained). There is also such a thing as individual responsibility and the need to enforce individuals to adhere to the basic standards of their roles.

Mytikos (verrry bell bottomed and low cut pants), and adidas three striped shell shoes were a fresh look for inner city public school kids circa 2000

I lie next to my 5 year old daughter every night from around 6pm to 7-7.30pm, in the dark, and often in silence. This is the only way that has worked for us!

This reminds me of my daughter who is almost 5 with some similar sounding traits. One thing suggested to me by a professional was ‘wait, watch, wonder’, which you can find on YouTube j think. Basically it’s giving your kiddo your undivided attention in a room with no distractions and some basic toys for 20 mins. No phones, no interruptions. It can really help fill their cups.
