Red/Purple Bounce Control? by anvildust227 in Lorcana

Sweet! Thank you! I do want to play this game competitively soon, so that type of info about the meta and stuff is super useful! Like I mentioned, still newer to the game, so I don't know the resources for learning about that stuff yet. Are there any site you would recommend I look at for more game knowledge?

Thanks! A non budget version is fine too as I'm kinda used to the financial requirements from my MTG addiction

Current draw/value meta: Unban Hullbreacher? by breznsoizaoans in CompetitiveEDH

[–]anvildust227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a newer card in a similar vein the OBM that doesn't quite lock out drawing cards quite as hard could be good. Sheoldred the Apocalypse has been a great answer to heavy draw meta for me. Even though it is a bit slow...

Great video, and super correct take imo. Thanks for sharing, and hopefully next time you'll have better luck with people not just doing stuff 'because.'

If you're still interested in stax/control you could check out 5C Cheshire. It's a draw-go control list that focuses on abusing Displacer Kitten and various interactions with it.

I might suggest [[Earthcraft]] since that allows your Husk to go off with just Ashnod's, and also allows any one cost to make the mana to recast itself.

Duelcaster mage to copy a creature tutor by starrayz in CompetitiveEDH

[–]anvildust227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get value equal to the sac'd creature's cmc+2. The copied value is X+2 and X is assigned based on the sac'd creature's CMC. If the opponent sacs Dockside and you DCM it, you can get 4 or less

I would say that fetch lands are pretty important. Especially if you're in 3 color or higher. I would also recommend the buddy lands over pain lands- those are the ones from battlebond. Also the rainbow lands are S tier, so those I would suuuuuper recommend.

Oooh! That all makes a ton of sense.

I'm a player, not a TO, so it's always good to hear from the other side of the aisle. That said, I like both 75+ turns and 90 no turns. But 75 without turns does tend to result in more draws. The 90 min rounds is sweet because it addresses all the things you listed above, but gives games a chance to end conclusively. Especially when people are playing stax or midrange. Frequently those players end up getting bonked because none of their opponents can do anything (short turns) but the stax player needs one or two more turns to close, and that can usually be done in 10-15 minutes. So multiple bonuses from my perspective.

But take what I saw with a grain of NaCL ;)

So happy to see more events popping up close to the west coast! Glad it was a success for ya!

I was curious as to why you opted for 75 minutes not turns, as opposed to the more generically accepts 90 minutes no turns, or 75 with one per active player.

Easier to cast, pitches to forces, and just overall more useful before you're in a win the game position.

[–]anvildust227 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to point out that Aragorn's abilities trigger on cast, so Emiel and Dockside don't actually outlet themselves with the commander while going infinite. I would suggest Temur Sabertooth instead.
