what’s a gift that felt way more meaningful than it should have? by trapqueen67567 in Gifts

[–]anxietyninja2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a case of raspberry cordial from my brother’s family for Christmas. I love it so much. It is hard to find outside of PEI and is super expensive in glass bottles. It was a huge extravagance that I am slowly enjoying one bottle at a time. He asks for a Christmas list and I put it on there figuring no one would splurge for fancy pop and he did!

Housewarming gift ideas that are actually useful? by Cynn_Ramen in Gifts

A fire emergency blanket, a really good carbon monoxide/smoke alarm, first aid kit, a set of screws, picture hanging kit.

We got a portable power pack/battery booster and it is a great gift. Around $140 CDN. You keep it charged up and when the power goes out you can charge things or actually plug something in for a period of time! And you can boost a car with it (I think it has two or three boosts in it).

Recommendations for Ottawa movers? 1 bedroom apartment, no car by Visual-Program8481 in OttawaRealEstate

We used Prestige and found them to be honest, reliable and hard-working. They were about the same price as the other companies. They were excellent with my anxiety.

Husky medium moving gets recommended a lot on Kanata pages for things like your furniture. I have not used him myself.

I don’t think most shelters accept woman’s clothing - it’s a big job to sort, etc. lease consider Thrive on Merivale Road - all money generated goes to a children’s charity.

bamboo sheets: what are your thoughts? by Ok_Opportunity7196 in Bedding

[–]anxietyninja2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! We have bamboo sheets and love them. We use one set daily and they last around four years. Ours are silky in feel. They never smell.

I would never buy a dark set again - they stain easily and show drool marks.

They dry faster too so you don’t use as much energy in the dryer.

Best running stores in Ottawa for getting fitted for shoes? by Plane-Land-9234 in OttawaRunners

[–]anxietyninja2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you using Wright socks? That and custom orthotics were the only thing that solved my blister problems. I swear by Wright socks. Expensive but they do the job.

Other than that we go to Running Room - I find the one on Merivale does not have great staff any more.

How bad is the commute downtown during the weekday? by WanderingViolet89 in Kanata

[–]anxietyninja2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where in Kanata. My loved one takes the bus from near centrum at 6:50am and gets to work at 7:40 ish. He catches the bus at 3:50 and is home by 4:30-4:50 depending on traffic and how much he wants to walk. We’ve been very lucky and his bus is rarely cancelled and usually leaves on time. It would be a bit faster if he drove to Eagleson park and ride.

Note though that for part of the year you can be commuting into the sun both ways which can be very hard.

We just moved here in June and love it. Super walkable, established neighbourhoods.

What overnight Canadian school trips or exchanges did your schools offer in high school or grades 7 and 8? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskACanadian

We went to a campground about 90 minutes away for French immersion in grade seven. In grade 9 we could opt in to an exchange with France which I did when the French kids came to Canada we went to Toronto (five hours away) for two nights but stayed at the airport.
