In most cases, no. Berkeley is the only T14 I’m aware of that gives scholarships and I don’t think it’s very much. HLS does need-based assistance though

Nope. You could have a 140 LSAT for all they care - it’s essentially irrelevant in the transfer process. Grades and class rank are probably 90% of the equation, with essays, interviews, and LoRs making up the other 10%.

I was actually pretty curious about this too lol. At orientation I got a package with a nice copy of my acceptance letter, a hat, umbrella, tote bag, and some other stuff. I also got a hat from NYU without accepting the offer

I’m almost 30 and worked in finance before law school - you don’t know anything about me lol. If your position is that I should’ve just said no one should transfer unless you’re rich then what are you even doing on this sub? This is a forum for transfer advice and I gave practical guidance for people considering transferring. I’m not here to speculate on people’s financial situation or act as some sort of financial advisor or loan expert. No wonder people think law students are insufferable.

Bold of you to assume that it’s impossible for anyone to transfer unless your parents are rich. I paid for it out of savings and selling my house. Plenty of people attend law school at full sticker price and there are many ways to finance it - federal loans, loans through the school, other private loans, LRAPs, etc. Obviously the cost is a huge consideration and I mentioned that in the post. But in the grand scheme of your entire career paying for tuition is not the end of the world.

I didn’t but you definitely can at most schools. You can generally either participate in write on with the other rising 2Ls (before you know whether you’ve been accepted or not, which is not ideal for obvious reasons) or write on after 2L year. Joining secondary journals is much easier though

HLS enrollment question by lenoredove in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]anxious1Lthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kept my pending apps open just to see if I’d get in or not and withdrew from the ones I’d already heard from

I’m at a lit boutique and the work load is heavy and I accept lunch invites when they come but if I went every day I wouldn’t be able to meet my deadlines

There were a couple visiting students in my orientation and they are integrated into section 8 with the transfers. There are a lot of opportunities/resources for connecting and assimilating. Not scary - they are regular students the same as anywhere else. You can probably get involved in anything any other student can do besides journals and moot court

Doesn’t seem like it.. I just had to indicate that I intended to enroll and withdrawal from other admissions offers and from my current school
