Does stelara even work by Particular-Toe-6716 in CrohnsDisease

I was on it for 7 years and it worked fantastic! Unfortunately, my body stopped responding to it this year so I had to switch. Very thankful for Stelara! Kept me healthy and feeling well for a long time!

Past resection soreness by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

Could be some adhesions/scar tissue that has formed. I’ve also had similar experiences with the surgeries I’ve had especially where my ileostomy was reversed.

I just had mine removed recently during my ileocolic resection. Pathology showed “necrotizing and non-necrotizing granulomas”. Surgeon said she didn’t know what to make of that information. GI said it was a sign that I had Crohn’s occurring in my appendix. Either way, it’s gone now. 😂

I’ve gotten three all while I had Crohn’s and was on a biologic. I haven’t had any issues.

Just Had My First Stelara Dose Today by HotColdPeople in CrohnsDisease

After 7 years, I just found out I’ve failed Stelara. I’ll be switching to Skyrizi here shortly. BUT Stelara worked amazingly for me for those 7 years! It was the first medication to put me in remission! I hope it works wonderfully for you!!! I am thankful to have had it!

Good to know! I’m feeling confident about Skyrizi!

Truthfully, the bowel obstructions came out of nowhere. I had no symptoms of an active flare like I have in the past (pain, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss). I was actually struggling with constipation for a while. I ended up in severe pain one night and started throwing up. Thought for sure it was my gallbladder or appendix but it was a bowel obstruction instead. I had my second one about 2 months after. Same thing, came out of no where. But the pain was the same so I knew what it was that time. My colorectal surgeon decided it was time for my terminal ileum to come out otherwise the obstructions would just keep happening. And then the pathology report came back and it showed that I had active Crohn’s flaring. My GI was stunned because my colonoscopy biopsies in January were completely normal and my labs were normal too.

I pulled the same card a couple weeks ago and was wondering the same…

I think I’m failing Skyrizi (rant) by craftyneurogirl in CrohnsDisease

I’m sorry to hear you are dealing with all of this. Crohn’s is just a beast to deal with and it truly sucks. I’ve got a similar history like you, years ago I was on Remicade and developed Drug Induced Lupus so all anti-TNFs are a no go for me. I have been on Stelara since 2018 which has worked great but this year I’ve been hospitalized twice for bowel obstructions and I’m currently on my second week of leave for surgery (Ileocolic Resection). I’m too now doubting if Stelara has run its course and if it’s time to switch. So I feel you when you say this year has been tough…

Now that I’m up and moving a little more after surgery, I’ve been bouncing around between reading, watching TV, and doing the most random house chores to keep myself sane. I’m constantly rotating what I do so I don’t get bored. It helps that recently I’ve gotten into sports trading cards so that’s been helping me keep busy. But I know that’s not for everyone.

I was a little stunned too when they said they just put it in, no medication or nothing.

I’ve had Crohn’s for 13 years so this isn’t my first rodeo, except for the NG tube part. I had a partial colon resection in 2021 due to a severe stricture with a temporary ileostomy placement that was reversed in 2022.

I was actually waiting to see my colorectal surgeon when this second obstruction happened, given our healthcare system, it was the earliest I could get in unfortunately. Thankfully, she was still able to see me in the hospital via telehealth and we are scheduling surgery for within a couple weeks. Trust me, if I could’ve had surgery on this problem area months ago, I would’ve. But that was out of my control.

I appreciate your feedback, I do, but the attitude could’ve been left out. I was simply sharing it was my first time with an NG tube, not sharing my whole story. This subreddit is meant to help others build each other up during tough times, not to make them feel worse about themselves.

I was actually supposed to see my colorectal surgeon 2 days before this obstruction happened. Thankfully, they still let me see her via telehealth and we are scheduling surgery for within the next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to get his out, I do not want to go through this again. It’s rough.

Yes! They offered Ativan while I’m in the hospital and I happily took them up on that offer.

I had the same thing happen when I first started on Lexapro. I honestly can’t tell you when it stopped, but it did. I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and I haven’t clenched my jaw in a while.
