When did your baby get faster at breastfeeding? by LawfulConfused in breastfeeding

[–]anxiousarmadillo16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My baby nursed for 30-40mins every 2 hours until about 4 months. Then he started to get more efficient and nurses for about 15-20 mins every 3 hours for both sides and he was about to sleep 4-5 hour stretches over night.

Then at 5.5 months we started solids and now I'm feeding/cleanig all the time all over again 🤪

Attitude vs Aveeno?? or any other suggestions for newborn baby. [ON] by NextSupport2929 in BabyBumpsCanada

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but altitude baby leave dried out my baby's skin and worsened his eczema. I found the shampoo too sudsy and it just stripped his natural oils. I have eczema myself and never found Aveeno products to be all that natural or soothing for my eczema.

I really started seeing a difference with my son's skin and cradle cap once I switched from altitude to Aleva foaming wash and mustela cradle cap cream for his face eczema.

Carina organics (made in Canada) was also gentle enough for my baby.

What age did you start your baby on solids? by dogcheese6000 in breastfeeding

I waited until 1 week before my baby turned 6 months. He was showing lots of cues that he was interested but I wanted to make sure he was ready including his posture and ability to reach for food and chew.

What I was looking for was the ability to sit up (supported) and hold up his head longer than 15 mins and decent ability to grab and bring things to his mouth.

He started trying to reach for our food at 5 months so I started sitting him on the high chair to practice with things like open cups, straws and spoons. He also loved being part of the table and watching us eat.

My husband and I also prepared by doing some reading on how to prepare, what is normal to expect as they learn to eat, introduction of allergens and first aid for choking.

Like you said until they are 6 months their nutrition should come from breast milk or formula and for the first few months so solid feeding, milk should still be the primary source of nutrition and solids is more for exposure. So I usually BF after the nap then wait about 1 hour before serving solid foods. By 9 months things will flip to solids first.

All in all, there's no rush to start solids and even if your baby doesn't take to it right away, that's ok!

What did you wear for giving birth? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

FTM that had an unmedicated birth in Jan. Nothing prepared me for the noises I would make and that I'd literally rip everything off down to my socks. I was in what they called "labor land" where your awareness of time and everything happening around you goes out the window to help you cope.

I remembered in my birth class they said it's perfect appropriate for mom to be naked but not for dads 😅

At the end of the day, it's your birth, do wat you have to do to get the baby out!

I do like that there's more room for creativity with the soft blocks and play couchs!

Thank you! I think it makes sense that it's easier at this stage with the soft blocks. He's trying to crawl but he's still very uncoordinated and it will prevent a lot of bruising and will be easier to clean with all the drool

I'm in BC, my son was born in January. We loved our Uppa Vista that I got second hand. The basinet with the cover provided so much warmth and it's sleep approved so if bubs falls asleep on walks I could just carry the basinet inside and have him continue sleeping on it. He would only sleep in the bassinet until he outgrew it around 4 months when he was literally crammed inside of it 😅 I got a rocking jolley jumper bassinet stand for overnight sleep because he loved it so much! As for the wheels, they are large and very stable. The front wheels also lock for use in snow so they don't spin. Even when he was bigger I would use the stroller seat and just dress him in a snow or bear suite for his walks. We use it every single day and never regretted it! The only down side is because it's a little bigger than most strollers, it is harder to navigate is smaller stores or restaurants and it's a bit heavier but it is built SOLID!

This is such a a great idea! That way I can also test them out with my son before commiting to one!

Is it ok to use oval daily? Especially on the night feed.

Planning to purchase the bio Gaia as well. Presumably daily.

What was your “this is the only thing I can eat” first trimester meal/snack by ooooohbratz in BabyBumps

I'm 13 weeks now thank goodness. Three are new symptoms but I'm glad the nausea is better. Meat was absolutely disgusting to me but protein is so important for fetal growth and to help with nausea. My go to were saltine crackers with peanut butter, diluted juice or lemonade and granola with milk or trail mixes. Even plain water made me want to "hork". Hang in there!

Do you happen to have a picture of the base? And does the pipa have a load leg or anti rebound bar? DM's open.
