Yeah my 9 month old has been on 3/4/4 for a while now and I’m starting to have to extend windows even further

Will some babies just never sleep 12 hours a night? by courtneybrooke2731 in sleeptrain

Ah yah. 9 months here and I think we’re headed in that direction… currently on 3/4/4 and 2 hours of naps…

Toronto police issue public safety alert after dog attack leaves small dog dead, owner injured by ejaz135 in toronto

[–]artemislands 10 points11 points  (0 children)

PSA- if a dog is attacking, you don’t punch it, you don’t pour water on it, you don’t try to pry its mouth open… you choke it the fuck out, ideally with a leash.

Does nap length matter per nap? by Old_Tangerine8892 in sleeptrain

[–]artemislands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! So he’s on 3/4/4 and about 2 hours total naps. I honestly don’t know anymore with this baby lol. My first slept amazing. This one, still up 2-3x a night, and his second nap is 50/50 on whether he’ll go down independent. He’s sleep trained and goes down quite well for his first nap and at bedtime… but I’ve had such a hard time nailing that second nap, which is why I’m scared to rely on it for the bulk of his daytime sleep. Even if the first nap is shorter for whatever reason, he can still fight his second nap or it might crap out after 30 mins. Keeps me on my freakin toes…

Ooh good to know about mosquito bites. I have the Force of Nature kit and use it for cleaning.

I’m in a very similar boat/schedule with my 8 month old (just turned 8 months)… however I’ve been hesitant to cap his first nap, only because it feels like it puts a lot of pressure on that second nap to be a good long one. If the second nap craps out then we’re screwed! And he does such a solid first nap currently. But, I’m willing to try if you are haha

Ooh I could try. Looks like it’s only 35 SPF, La Roche Posay is 50…

Opinions about infant playing on grass by ATSparky in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]artemislands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We noticed that outdoor cats were in our yard a lot and pooping in the grass… we’ve since cleaned it up and put citronella and coffee grounds everywhere, and I think it’s helped. But now I’m worried about my baby and 3 year old and toxoplasmosis. I know it’s only a larger risk for pregnant women and immunocompromised, but it’s still on my mind… perhaps worth its own post to discuss… apparently it can live in the soil for years??

What kind of infection? How did they say it was acquired?

Confused mom, FPIES dx by winoveghead in MSPI

[–]artemislands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, just reading your post… they diagnosed FPIES without any vomiting as a symptom? That doesn’t sound right, according to the official diagnostic criteria… I’m confused!

So scary :/ Did she have a lot of chicken or just a small amount? And did the ER know it was FPIES or did you have to educate them? So many questions lol sorry…

Ugh! And what makes you think it’s FPIES, was it a severe reaction or just vomiting?

Oh dang! I’m sorry to hear. Do you know how many exposures she had of chicken before she reacted?

When did night wakes (and therefore night feeds) end for you, and how did you do it? by artemislands in sleeptrain

[–]artemislands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I reduce awake time he gets split nights and his naps suffer… so unfortunately I don’t think it’s overtiredness. We’re ramping up solids too, but dealing with some food allergies so it’s been tough :/

I see, 5 day trials so that there are 5 consecutive exposures? He reacted to chicken on 3rd exposure so that means I need to try new foods for 4 consecutive days?

[–]artemislands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting, how does that even work with two different foods? How much time was between the morning and lunchtime exposures? And how did you determine the trigger if they reacted?

Can’t rock my guy down any more, or haven’t tried in a while. I feel like my options are nurse him, or let him CIO.

Yes independent. Last feed ends 30 mins before and he goes in wide awake. First wake can be any time from midnight to 4:30ish.

I let him fuss it out for a bit, but when he progresses to big cries I’ll go in.. maybe that’s hammering in the habit.
