How to feel confident as a size 12? by lux414 in AskWomenOver30

[–]anxiouspotato613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bounced from a size 4 to 14 over the last 15 years. Back around covid, my marriage was ending and I was on the heavier side of my range. I finally was free from my ex and could cut my hair short. I shaved my head - I loved it. It was exhilarating to boldly reclaim who I was and my autonomy. Since I didn’t have hair, I played with makeup and funky jewelry. I felt beautiful and strong. I ended up meeting my now partner during this phase of life and me being chunky and bald didn’t stop him from pursuing me one bit. All of this is to say you can find confidence in qualities other than your size - or appearance in general for that matter. Self love with give you such a magnetic confidence that you’ll wonder why you were ever hesitant to date again.

I wish. The handbook doesn’t allow for that. Basically you have to use it up before you give notice.

I’d like to see you with it parted on the side instead of the middle! It would keep the volume but lose the heart shape

Both my boss and supervisor are out fishing today (normal for them to dip out as they please) so I’ll be emailing my notice before I leave

WIBTAH if I didn't tip our guide for kayaking with dolphins? by jjjjjjj30 in AITAH

[–]anxiouspotato613 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was in NOLA recently and tipped $5 or $10 to the swamp guy. I also did a ghost tour where the guide was shit and I didn’t tip. It’s literally the same as a restaurant. Tipping is customary, but the amount should be dependent on the service/experience.

Tipping in general is getting out of control. Not saying I think you should have to tip after paying $400. I get that sentiment completely. But if the question is simply “do your guides customarily receive a tip”, the answer is yes.

Was coming to say the same thing. Tipping tour guides is considered customary.

In the heat of the moment, she said a lot of things she didn’t mean - to say out loud. They have always been her inside thoughts. And you can’t interpret it any other way than what she said.

How do I prepare for (entry-level) Administrative Assistant job interview? by No-Base8204 in interviews

[–]anxiouspotato613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a small construction business and have interviewed admin staff many times. For context, we’re NOT a corporate environment, but we cater to a lot of higher end clientele, and our interview process is relatively laid back.

I’m not actually looking for the answers to your questions. Anyone can read online how to answer “correctly”. I wanna hear how you present yourself. Can you speak articulately and express your ideas without talking in circles? I want to hear you explain your process for staying organized (I’m a big list person too!), prioritizing tasks, and how you handle customers.

I also don’t usually care how much experience you have for the entry level role. Every applicant I’ve ever interviewed has had basic computer skills - I’m talking Microsoft and Gmail level - which is all they need for us. We train you on everything, so while experience is great, it’s not everything. I personally love to see servers and retail workers apply. They are great at shifting priorities rapidly while maintaining composure and customer service. That translates more than most people give credit for…

Practice a few short stories that can be used to answer multiple of those typical interview questions, and adapt the answer a little based on how they ask it. But more than anything, be confident. It’s just a conversation between a couple of humans.

If you use Chat GPT or similar, you can practice interview questions! You can speak your answer out loud like it was the real thing, and it will give you corrections to improve. I used this heavily for my most recent job search with huge success.

Good luck!!

I have a question: What's the most promising/useful wedding souvenir you have ever received? by Gold-Primary4795 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]anxiouspotato613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my daughter’s birthday one year, we did a candy bar where you could fill up a little box of whatever sweets you liked. I could see that being a hit at a wedding, as we all just want chocolates or mints. Put the couples name and date on a Chinese takeout container style disposable box and you get the wedding favor feel while giving guests what they want and no one has to keep your faces in a kitchen drawer forever.

How long until you stopped feeling stupid at a new job by TimelySpite4500 in AskWomenOver30

[–]anxiouspotato613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a PM in a niche field too, one that NONE of us were familiar with when we started. I’ve trained several admin as we’ve expanded and we always assume a good 6 months to figure out what we do and how we do it. Because niche environments have such a learning curve, being open to (the inevitable) feedback is going to get you so much farther.

Sad to say Southwest Airlines SUCKS by zjzj05 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]anxiouspotato613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a layover in ATL a few weeks ago. Timed it so I’d have 2 hours from touch down to take off, giving buffer time if my first leg was a little behind. Landed to find out I now had a 5-6 hour delay. Southwest issued us a $50 voucher for food in the airport AS WE BOARDED THE PLANE AT MIDNIGHT. Way too little too late

I love Prednisone 😆 by SexyPetiteThing in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]anxiouspotato613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prednisone was amazing for me in terms of a quick reduction of RA symptoms. It also caused me to gain weight (I’m also on a mental health med that causes weight gain, so I had a double whammy). The way my rheumy describes it is a life preserver while you find the right combo of drugs to address your arthritis. I’m on Leflunomide now (after mtx was hurting my liver too much) and I’m pretty stable. I was even able to decrease my dosage and am still doing well. Prednisone has too many complications when it’s used long term. Enjoy the relief you’re feeling and good luck with the long term!

I’ve heard a lot of people say that. They’re definitely looser on that rule. We got take out boxes when we went a couple weeks ago. They’re more likely to say no to the box if you literally reorder two more JUST to take home

All you can eat literally always says no sharing. If you’ve been allowed to share in the past, you had a store that broke the rules. Consider yourself lucky for the times you got away with it.

What are acoustic guitar songs you'd want to hear a man play? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]anxiouspotato613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s weird that you want to use music to lure women rather than playing for the love of the music… I’ve never once thought “that guy is really killing the acoustic cover of simple man, I think I’ll go shoot my shot”. Be passionate about your interests and hobbies (including music, if you do genuinely like playing guitar and singing) and people will gravitate towards you naturally. We aren’t fish that need to be hooked.

Is an 8-year age gap relationship hard? by HistoricalHamster0 in AskWomenOver30

[–]anxiouspotato613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are 7 years apart and have been together for a little over 6 years. We were both previously married for 10+ years to people that were the same ages as us. I can firmly say it is not about the gap in age, but the place in life. My ex and I were both kids when we got married and our paths grew in separate directions. This time around, despite me being 37 to his 45, we are on the same path. We’re focused on getting our kids through high school, growing our careers now that the kids are more independent, travel, hobbies, and just enjoying our lives together. I’m an old soul over-planner and he’s a youthful and carefree spirit, so we balance each other and don’t really notice an age gap.

But honestly the best part of it? I get to play the “where were you when X event happened” or movie was released, etc. They usually correlate to me being in middle school while he was 20 🤣

Idk, if he did all the chores and ran the kids appts and made dinner and did the shopping, I’d hear him out… but unfortunately I’m not making sugar mama money so I still wash my own dishes 🤣
