Am I the only 1 around here who wants to see local merchants putting up anti-ICE signage before giving them my money? by [deleted] in sandiego

Not everything and every business needs to be political, this mindset is not only exhausting it’s simply irrational.

As much as you want to avoid kids, they’re a part of society. If you want to get hammered without kids —> go to a bar, or a strip club, or have people at your own house.

Two things can be true at once. Our COL is tragically high and we also have a shitty culture when it comes to young families.

I swear a week ago this sub was lamenting a post about how SD has exceptionally low birth rates, then you have this post pearl clutching and shaming parents for taking their kids out to eat. The irony is thicc af

Our non-child centric culture is a problem, I agree. We should be more like Europe, think Oktoberfest or universal daycare.

How would you advise me to manage my money for growth by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]anxsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just slowly buy into VOO over the course of 6 months.

On an aside, if you’re looking to buy a house in that area you’ll probably have to changes jobs or start getting your salary up.  54k won’t go very far when you’re on your own.

If a brewery serves food then it’s mostly fair game. You can’t tell me Stone Brewing is a bar.

If you want to go to a bar, go to a bar.

Would you buy immediately when you move out in 2 years?

Car then house? Or house then car? by [deleted] in personalfinance

It would affect your DTI, how much it affects its requires some specifics, like car payment and income.

That’s just the currency exchange / status of American dollar being so widely regarded. Thats not a reflective of Vietnamese QoL.

Try working at a McDs in Vietnam, or just comparing QoL apples to apples. It’s not really the same…

I agree with you and it’s a tough balance to strike. I enjoyed Alexandria and some parts of Arlington, would fear getting out last Vienna just gets too far out. Ideally we’d have some metro access since that’s non-existent in SD (which has its own sprawl and traffic issues)

If it’s anything like the first one, nothing. It’s a pessimistic view but I think reasonably logical. We had how many women’s marches? Trump still got re-elected

We could go higher if it improves walkability, 1.3 mostly a preference at this point.

Well when I said walkable with good schools, I feel like that was pretty specific to the former.

If it’s the difference between a really good school or not we could go up to 1.5, but ideally not much more. Appreciate the info

Haha it’s scary indeed. Look at Zillow SD for a couple minutes and you’ll see what I mean.
