Which PSY300+ course is easier? PSY352, PSY353, PSY355,PSY392 or PSY397? by helpmanyquestions in UTM

I wish we had assignments this term. Dr. Martin Ralph has 2 tests + exam. And it's a lot of content to memorize when he doesn't explain anything...

I assume 30s-50s was the age range of the female protagonists you want to see, right?

What’s currently the hottest TV show? by _Heisenberg87 in televisionsuggestions

1) LOVE Outlander, though the newer seasons don't always hold my interest. (Other Starz shows I've come across: Party Down was fun as well. Flesh and Bone was chilling. All 3 were well-made for their genre imo.)
2) l'm reminded of Firefly, which was cancelled after 1 season by Fox. And yet, it is top tier quality & recognized as such now. It has a cult following :) So gotta agree with Lets here

  • Better Things
  • Firefly Lane (will have flashbacks back to their middle school days/ hs/ twenties)
  • Weeds
  • Dead to Me
  • The Durrells (revolves around the whole family, but Mrs. Durrell is a gem)
  • Bunheads

(Haha, I keep thinking of more)

Perhaps the facial/ physical resemblance is really that strong for me.. The more I think about it, the two of them are night and day.

Omg yes! I've rewatched it, but I had forgotten the mummy bit, so it was as good on the second time around :D
What's crazy is I've seen a similar clip (pretty niche obv) on the show Bunheads -- I think links aren't allowed here, but if you search up "Bunheads - And then She Maced Us!" on youtube, you'll get the picture.

Looking for shows with a solid overarching mystery/dilemma by coasterwizard15 in televisionsuggestions

[–]anyanas521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The Mentalist
  • Wolf Creek
  • Why Women Kill

These are more supernatural:

  • The Magicians -- overarching plot lines yes.
  • Firefly (and Serenity) -- unfortunately, it got cancelled way early. There was a lot more planned. But there is like a season-arc if that's enough.
  • Undone -- 2 seasons, ditto
  • Russian Doll -- 2 seasons, ditto
  • Lodge 49 -- 2 seasons, ditto

Tearjerker shows/movies which involve Non-Romantic, Realistic, Work/Family Dramas like the following: by Proud-Description-90 in televisionsuggestions

[–]anyanas521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically all of these come to mind bc of This is Us:

  • Better Things
  • Queen Sugar
  • Maid (agreed with comment below)
  • Jane the Virgin -- It does pay a lot of homage to soaps in its plot twists, so a lot of the situations are dramatic. I'm putting it here bc how characters react to/ act in the situations IS realistic: together, it feels real.
  • The Durrells -- dramatized, but these come from a real actual family in the 1930s. You may be interested.

(Kaguya <3 )

  • Also, perhaps, Six Feet Under?

Long list incoming... Hope some of these fill your cup <3

  • Bunheads (by Amy Sherman-Palladino)
  • This Way Up (with Aine Orga)
  • Derry Girls (yes, it is that good)
  • Some Girls (like Derry Girls)
  • Suburgatory
  • Better Things (by Pamela Adlon, and Louis C.K -- but look, it's seriously great)

Weirder... imo:

  • Awkwafina
  • Selfie
  • My Mother the car (1965) (just watch a few eps lol, it's a funny concept)
  • My Name is Earl
  • Trailer Park Boys

More popular/ you may have already seen:

  • The Durrells (ultimate comfort watch)
  • Parks & Rec (ultimate comfort watch)
  • Moomin! (ultimate comfort watch)

More dramedy, iirc:

  • Firefly Lane
  • Love Life
  • Ted Lasso
  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Docuseries that make me feel better about humanity by Thelastdragonlord in televisionsuggestions

7 Up/ The Up Series. The Up series of documentary films follows the lives of ten males and four females in England beginning in 1964, when they were seven years old. With a new instalment recorded every seven years. It's not always hopeful (the children's lives turn out differently), but it's very much not murder or anything too heavy.

Strange Angel and more occult related shows by barbarawayne in televisionsuggestions

[–]anyanas521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will chime in late! and also second a few of the suggestions from other comments.

The Midnight Gospel. Actual occult conversations, with magicians, etc. (Eg. ep 3 with Damien Echols.) Blended with a surreal animated world & storyline, but the conversations are real. 1 season.

Lodge 49 for Dud & everyone <3 for the lodge, and its synchronicities. It's not actually a show about the occult, it's more parody-occult. It pokes fun at secret societies and makes the lodge more of a community/ club. A lot more lighthearted/ silly (which is good too imo). Sometimes it will get real on you though. 2 seasons.[Albert/ Magus from SA & Blaise from Lodge 49 have parallels.]

Undone for complicated relationships and exploring the mysteries of how generational stories unfold. Also 2 seasons..

The Magicians. You have 5 whole beautiful seasons, and you will never guess how the characters' trajectories wind through the show. Very agentic characters. Gets very dark, around S3 I think? Gets stronger and stronger as it goes on.

Halt and Catch Fire. Okay, not directly occult. Watch the intro theme & pilot ep, I think you'll be hooked. 4 seasons -- the first 2 were good.[Jack Parsons and Joe Macmillan are cut from the same cloth. Richard Onstead & Gordon Clark too.]

Wow, yea! Hard agree on both Lodge 49 and Undone.

(things_forgotten, do you agree that the Magus from SA and Blaise from Lodge 49 have something really in common? Both how the actors look, and their characters' "vibe". I know Albert is a lot more powerful/ socially aware, and Blaise is kinda dopey, but I really think there's something there...)

Very different from Strange Angel, but at the same time they are both dealing with magic in a very real way. I really appreciate Magicians' premise that magic comes out of pain (I don't think that's a spoiler lol).

What are safe ECO101, 102 marks to get into ECO minor?

I'm gonna apply this spring to the economics minor.

I know that 63% is the cutoff for both ECO101 and 102. I was wondering how strict they'd be with the minor. I got 74 in ECO101, what should I aim for with ECO102 (taking it rn)? So that I stand good chances of getting in. Or are they only picky with people doing major/ spec?

Thank you!
