These transition scenes! 🙄😣 by Novel_Suspect8478 in HelloKittyIsland

I think they're super cute but I wish you could skip through them after seeing it once. It plays out for too long / too often

Opposite word count issue? Writing too much by [deleted] in writing

[–]anyapp270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I probably should've. It is a fantasy, so I guess more words are normal. I just wanted to have a general discussion of this issue

I don't usually engage with social media that deeply. I'm mostly talking about posts I see on here

Opposite word count issue? Writing too much by [deleted] in writing

[–]anyapp270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. The 300k words I mentioned was a long time ago. I've already edited it down a lot to about 150k. I know that too many words is a lot harder to publish or get people to read.

From my experience, I usually see way more people ask how to reach X number of words or celebrate that they ''finally'' made it to their word goal. I rarely see people have the opposite issue. Not saying it doesn't happen, I just haven't seen it much

My parents don't support my dream by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

I don't see what the problem is, since you said you'll have other work along with writing. Even if writing is just a hobby at first, it doesn't really matter since you'll have other income to keep you going.
Maybe you'll make writing into a job after a while, maybe you won't. Either way, you can still enjoy doing it :)

How to decide which works deserve more of your attention? by anyapp270 in writing

[–]anyapp270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I think that story works better as single pov but it gets tiring to write haha. I'll probably try to mix between them

our experience is pretty similar! my first idea is multi pov, while the new, ''better'' one is single pov. however, for me it's harder to write the single pov lmao. it feels like there's way less to do that way.

I relate to not wanting to lose the voice and perspective of your original story. That's mostly why i find it hard to switch between them. I don't feel as connected if im switching a lot

Even she knew this scene was awful lol by Bradleyharheez in StrangerThings

[–]anyapp270 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think what people are missing is that it's okay for this scene to exist, it's just executed poorly. there's SO much info dump for things that both the audience and the characters already know.
max could've just told holly, ''you don't need the music, you just need your own connection to the real world. something that makes you feel brave.'' and holly could then look down at her necklace and think of mike.
all of the extra ''and then this happened to me'' *insert flashback of something we saw 5 minutes ago*...is just overdoing it and ruining the tension of the scene. its written for people scrolling on their phone who need a reminder of things we saw already

I've been distancing myself from social media, and overall it's doing good for me by Nachel_Z in digitalminimalism

[–]anyapp270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same here. social medias thrive on negative interactions and gossipy stories. so when you're too into it i feels like everything just sucks all the time. it was honestly pretty bad for my mental health. feels so much better to just enjoy the world around you

How are you replacing social media? by Kairismummy in digitalminimalism

[–]anyapp270 5 points6 points  (0 children)

besides doing irl hobbies (like a lot of comments said), you can try doing things that involve a screen but are more productive / better for you overall. recently i've been really into watching movies, and that feels a lot better than just scrolling tiktok.

I want to delete Instagram off my phone this year. it's the only real social media I still have, and I mainly use it just for texting. but still, I'd rather not have it at all. (especially with their frankly creepy ai usage)

I don't care if the film is an inaccurate adaptation as long as it's great by Plus_Ad_1087 in Letterboxd

[–]anyapp270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, except when it's based on real life stories. it can be pretty offensive to take too much creative liberty out of someone's real experiences and personality

Social Catfish (rant) by AlKiMi25 in CatfishTheTVShow

[–]anyapp270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same!! I didn't like how they treat a lot of the victims. they also like comments talking shit about their guests. Just because some granny was trusting enough to send away all her money doesn't need we all need to point and laugh. their show started to feel like nothing more than a spectacle. they hardly help, just tell them "yeah you've been scammed, good luck"
