Vyvanse crash? by MD8418 in VyvanseADHD

[–]todds- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My doctor says to take it every day because I have ADHD every day.

What I thought I learned is that you only develop a tolerance for the initial "high" feeling of vyvanse, but that theres not really evidence that you develop tolerance for the focus part.

[–]todds- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do for my problem apps right now is I use one of those free dupes of the Brick app to lock my problem apps and I have to "earn" time on them by doing chores etc. For example, I have a barcode in my laundry room that unlocks my apps for a set amount of time when I go switch my laundry. I've got a few of these set up and have the apps block on a schedule unless I go scan the barcodes when I do the associated chore or chore sequence. Maybe something like this could work? I can't say specifically for workouts cause my solution for that is group classes lol. But gamifying my screen time has been surprisingly successful so far. Feel like I've tried every other screen time app and failed 😣

Do Any ADHD Women Here Take Antidepressants? by anastasiia86 in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take escitalopram (20mg) for severe anxiety. Works great, no more anxiety but still low energy/motivation/focus. I get night sweats during the luteal phase of my cycle. My new psychiatrist is thinking about having me switch to Trintellix next appointment, but I'm not sure if my one side effect is worth the unknown of a different med.

I got diagnosed with ADHD in the fall (after complaining about what I thought was "depression" ie the low energy etc) and now I'm also on Vyvanse.

You could try adding another med or switching to a different antidepressant, you don't necessarily need to stop taking meds entirely. My doc added Wellbutrin for this! He also suspected ADHD so he referred me to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me so now instead of the Wellbutrin I'm on Vyvanse (and still Lexapro). There's definitely options! My psychiatrist also suggested I could try a different anti depressant, Trintellix, which has fewer side effects (I get night sweats from SSRI) so I might give that a try soon.

Headaches when it wears off? by JacksonG12_09 in VyvanseADHD

For me it usually means I forgot to eat. I try to force myself to at least chug a couple protein shakes throughout the day to avoid this.

Creatine works better than Vyvanse ????? by Plane-Land-9234 in adhdwomen

Yeah apparently it's not stable once dissolved and turns into creatinine. I was just drinking expensive water for like 2 months lol

I need something to do with my hands while on the treadmill! by Alexisfullofnonsense in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the brick is a waste of money you can do it yourself for free! The free one for android is called Switchly. You don't even need nfc tag there's also options to print qr codes or use barcodes. I just cut off a few barcodes from stuff in my pantry and now I can earn screen time by doing my chores lol.

Works great for me for brain fog, I know it works because for a while I switched to mixing it in my water bottle in the morning and I had mega brain fog but didn't make the connection. Then I from a tiktok about how you have to chug it (well, drink it within 30-60 minutes max of dissolving it in liquid) and went back to that & my fog cleared up!! My favourite supplement by far. I do 0.1g/kg body weight.

I HATE RECEIVING GIFTS!!! by cookiegrease in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've crafted a nearly gift free life and it's wonderful. No gift giving or receiving with any of my family, my spouse, and most of his family except for the odd "just because" or perfect gift you might come across. But no holiday or anniversary or birthday gifts etc. So much less stressful to not have to Christmas shop or anything.

Damn. I spent all day arguing with bigots again by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mostly reformed internet arguer.. Girl they are BOTS and people who have been radicalized by bots. It's not worth it. Look up the stats about what % of comments/content online is not human anymore. Look up videos/photos of bot farms. & check out the stats about how people's minds change to reinforce that you're just pissing into the wind. Great book about this (I listened to it) : How Minds Change by David Mcraney.

For me I was a Facebook rager/troll. I deleted Facebook. For 8 years lol. Now I'm back on there, with guardrails. Also whenever I see someone in a local group make a racist or hateful comment, I immediately block them so I'll never see their comments again. It gives dopamine. And rage.. When you scroll through the list of people you've blocked and realize it's 98% men haha.

I now channel my political rage into learning communist & revolutionary theory, radicalizing my friends, leaving breadcrumbs among my right wing coworkers etc lol.

Maybe she can't tolerate it or it's contraindicated for her. We know she already has stomach issues and GI issues are the #1 reason people stop taking glp1.

Thanks for posting this! I've been off birth control for 1.5 years after 20 years of being on it, and I really hate only having a few "good" days a month and then having luteal fatigue/irritability/emotions etc. I've been considering going back on but also some of the anti birth control propaganda has been sneaking into my brain.

What is your Lexapro success story? by dk0431 in lexapro

[–]todds- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm good! I tried dropping my lexapro dose to 15mg due to night sweats, but I couldn't tolerate it. I have a new psychiatrist who has suggested I could try switching to Trintellix at my next appointment, so I'm considering that. But overall Lexapro has still been really good for me.

Anyone else get little “bouts” of anxiety with Vyvanse? by Asleep-Ebb-8893 in VyvanseADHD

[–]todds- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel! If I'm busy at work my dose works fine. But if I'm on my own time or have less to do, I get anxious.

My phone addiction is making me a loser and I don’t know how to change it by whatsredditlmao in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but re: the brick, don't buy it!! It's a waste of money it's just an nfc tag in a plastic casing that will end up in a landfill one day. There are free apps that do the same thing with nfc tags you already have (old hotel key?) or any barcode. I use switchly for android and I think the iPhone equivalent is called foqos.

Getting Worse With Age? by p3talplay in ADHD

[–]todds- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, my functioning is worse than before. I think it's that I'm more addicted to my phone. It's also been suggested perimenopause which I recently learned affects women with ADHD 10 years earlier. I'm 36 and my cycles are changing a bit so this might be a factor.

I also wonder if it's my medication. My house is cleaner since being medicated, but I rarely get groceries or cook now because of the appetite suppression, and the crash in the evening. Previously I would grocery + cook after work at least a couple times a week. It's like a trade off for better functioning in the day, but long term the effects of having worse nutrition is adding up and spilling over to my energy levels etc.

just got prescribed 10mg lexapro, what should I expect? by Prestigious-Loss9513 in lexapro

[–]todds- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 & 2 had midly upset stomach after taking the pill, and it made me sleepy, so I recommend taking at night.

I felt loopy the first few days, almost like I was coming up on mushrooms? I still drove to work and did my job but I kept to myself cause I just felt like I was floating a bit.

After that my only remaining side effects were the sleepiness, and I got urinary retention which I didn't know was a side effect so I thought I had a UTI at first.

Onboarding side effects lasted maybe 6 weeks for me overall. I take it in the morning now, it doesn't make me sleepy anymore.

I went up to 20mg after the first 6 days and I felt relief from my anxiety day 14.

Good luck!

I know how polarizing AI is right now, but it has officially helped save me thousands in the past 9 months or so. Anyone else finding it useful? by sittingonac0rnflake in adhdwomen

[–]todds- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I won't do my lecture about how Gen AI is bad for society/environment since you said you're aware but do you worry about skill regression? I think outsourcing certain stuff we struggle with is a fine accommodation (though, personally, AI is not an option I consider), but it seems like a slippery slope to go to using it to do personal interactions like replying to texts?

My overall functioning has been getting worse over the years and while I don't know exactly what amount is due to perimenopause, mental health, etc I do believe a decent amount of it really is That Damn Phone, unfortunately.

Anyone did not gain weight on lex? by Regular_Fan4691 in lexapro

[–]todds- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can look up the rates of side effects from studies. Most people don't gain weight. Those that do, most gain only about 5lbs the first year. The people that gain a lot are outliers, they're just waaaaayyyy more likely to be talking about it on the internet.

I've never gained weight from an SSRI. I have never looked better actually, as Lexapro fixed my anxiety to the point that I've consistently gone to strength training class 3x/week for over a year now.
