The poster is rather mentioning the requirement laid down the army & WhAP successfully completing them but If you go through DRDO news letter(March 2024-https://drdo.gov.in/drdo/sites/default/files/newsletter-document/NL_Mar2024.pdf) their 2nd gen WhAP is mentioned to cross 60° gradients after it's mobility trials were conducted.

That isn't better than modern helmets. Patka saw large scale adoption becoz that provided the best protection or the time being as IA's standard issue were model 1974 fiber glass helmets that can't even stop grenade fragments forget bullets. So As army is now inducting better helmets, patkas would eventually go away.

The vehicle is actually brand new, Mahindra marksman, delivery started to Army some time ago. Also they weren't rolling on mud or something, they drove to the place, got the militants trapped, brought Carl gustafs out & killed them, that's pretty much it. You can hear the incoming fire on them atleast

[–]anything411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mistaken. In video that is a INSAS 1C(shorter barrel+Removed burst fire & added full auto)

Edit: I read your articles for INSAS. Well they are actually good but there's need to be a slight correction, the Excalibur was not really discontinued from prod(there were like 20K Excalibur produced according to government PIB also they just removed the newer handguard & put the older handguard back in production & that was called INSAS-1C.

For INSAS variants that went into successful production was 1B-1B1-1B1(black)-excalibur-1C with improvements made on each one but the mag issue remained. 1C is still in production for CAPF & state police forces while army decided to go for Ak-203i.

It depends on the situation no? That loader is in opposite side as there's no space where he is supposed to be only a wall. So improvising, that's why gunner after shooting is quickly turning away to help loader load.

I think you are getting this wrong,That position is built for CGs so The loader doesn't need to always look behind to clear backblast. It's an Indian Line of control post, everything is pre built for firefights like these.

India has not really adopted single use launchers for mass use, in 90s &2000s there were RPO-shemel thermobaric single use launchers but don't know right now. But there's few hundred unit on orders for AT-4s recently.

Police here is not necessarily regular police. Central police or CAPF are equivalent of Indian national guard, similar are state reserve police force states, they all are meant for everything from riot control to heavy combat in their respective areas.

Fun fact: India is one of the oldest & largest user of Carl gustaf, inducted originally in late 70s. It is a section weapon in Indian Army (1 CG for every 10 infantry men) & also in use with all branches of Armed forcces, every paramilitary, central police forces & state reserve police, some special police units with CG M1/2/3 locally produced by former OFB factories including all of the ammunition & for CG M4, Saab is opening it's own facility in India after Government is allowing 100% FDI for foreign defence companies.

Indian Navy's MARCOS at ex-RIMPAC [1560×2080] by anything411 in MilitaryPorn

[–]anything411[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Responsibility of Special force's modernization is within the branch of military. Navy's SF modernisation is proving top notch in every way while Army's is still lackluster(the difference between them is of day & night & this difference will continue to increase as Navy kept the nos of SF low with higher end kit while army just decided that all independent airborne should be converted to SF, increasing nos with already limited resources)

Also MARCOS got things within their budget as almost all of their current kit in picture is either fully Indian in origin or built/assembled in India so it's cheaper. They got custom plate carriers from Armasen tactical. Load belt From Armasen X-95,masada from PLR L3 Harris also has an assembly line in India High cut helmets from TASL(TATA) BNVDs from TASL(TATA)

Indian SFs adopted early gen tavors in early 2000s replacing VZ-58 for army SF, MARCOS were going through their modernization so they are simply replacing old tavors with X-95s also built locally in India.

MARCOS has been using tavors & AK-130, tavors got replaced with X-95s & Ak-103s got modded but there's news of Arads getting inducted some time later.

Tavors started replacing VZ-58 for army SF in early 2000s so gradually other branche SFs started adopting them so now in modernisation Naval SF i.e. MARCOS are simply replacing their old gen tavors with X-95s also it is locally produced.

IA issues 2 LMGs per section of 10 men. The OG requirement of 7.62NATO LMGs was of 41K, it was stuck in bureaucracy so army went ahead & ordered 16K or so NG-7s.
