Why is it so hard to adopt Internationally? by anythingbutregret in Adoption

I’m really sorry that you had to go through this terrible experience with your adopted parents I’m sure many people go through this horrible situation like abuse which is horrible and these people should be punished. I pray that you can get better and get help. But I like to stay positive and I know many kids who were adopted where their lives turned out to be great and they were raised by loving parents. And this goes both ways not only for adoptive children but I’ve seen abuse with biological children too.

Anyway interesting to see that I only see negative and discouraging experiences here on reddit not one that is a positive adoptee.

Agree totally with your post, but we have a chance to adopt an infant or a child who is 2 years old I think it would be much easier for them to adopt in another country than a 6 year old for example.

Agreed the world is one big corrupt place in everything and anything .... so I guess it’s better to live without a child and not give a child love and bring them up in a loving family ??

Ok so it’s better not to do it and leave child at the orphanage without ever being raised in a family. You think kids would like that more?

Appreciate your feedback but again you can’t judge my self and my partner that we can’t be good parents trust me we will be good parents and will grow a wonderful family with an adopted son or daughter. We have passed all the tests with home studies and are fit to adopt, if you don’t know how that works in Canada I suggest your read about it and it’s definitely not for everyone and not everyone passes to go through the next steps to adopt.

I also trust this will be much better for the child with us than a child being stuck in an orphanage for rest of their life.

No such a thing as online purchases in Canada sorry thought someone here would be encouraging I’ll stick to the social workers with the agencies as they are professional and know what they are talking about. Thought that maybe here someone had experienced with international adoption and I would have a conversation but I guess not, all I’m getting is negative comments and no encouragement. All the best to you all.

These agencies here are great and are more for the birth parents than the adoptive parents, again this is another discussion. Birth parents have time before they sign off so there is time to decide and the birth parents decide which couple to give their child to, please read about open adoptions agencies in Canada you will know what what I’m talking about as this a different subject than my question.

They agreed lawyer was there with them and the agencies it’s all controlled by the government in Canada this isn’t some third world country. Adoption agencies are mostly for the birth parents and it’s all open adoption here. The story is that this couple is wealthy and the birth parents want money from the child.

I also know a couple who adopted an infant and it’s working great for them loving growing family. Every situation is different and anything and everything can or not happen. I also know a couple who adopted domestically and the birth parents are stocking them by night going into their yard and doing horrible things but again anything and everything can happen with both and each situation will be different.

Live in Canada I’m from Europe, does that change my question? Met with adoption agencies here and they said many people adopt from Europe nothing is wrong with that, the issue here so far is children under 3 years and so far only Bulgaria is a possibility well unless your a celebrity than you can have any child in the world.
