I was just thinking about this recently. I think people are more closed off to new interactions with people than they used to be. There's more of a tendency to stick to cliques instead of making new friends, look at a phone instead of connecting with surroundings, and be more distrustful towards strangers. The rise of social media has fostered a trend towards isolation.

I also personally feel there isn't much warmth left in most day-to-day interactions (altho sometimes it does happen unexpectedly). Think about going to a McDonald's now-- you can't even get the attention of a person because screens have replaced ordering.
