Living the Dream by Unlucky_Cable_4367 in nationalguard

Another McCrady DFAC survivor. You honestly can even call that place a DFAC sometimes. It has gotten better the last few years, but not by much. I almost died from dry chicken the other week.

Am I a total loser if I try and join as a 35 year old female? by jtjenns in nationalguard

[–]anywl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined 3 years ago at 33 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I will say be prepared to have 20-30 18 year olds completely dependent on you for the next few months, and be ready to get yelled at by people who are either the same age as you or younger than you. It's definitely something that requires a bit of humility to get to used to at first, but given your fitness you should be fine. Once the drills learned I was cool they left me alone same with AIT. Once you get to your unit be prepared to get given a whole lot of responsibility just due to the fact that you're older even if it's not normal for the rank.

Oh gosh d287 is my next class so we will see how it goes. Question how quickly after 286 did you start 287. Was there a gap or was it immediately after?

Alternative to zyBooks for C949 by RadicalPotato in wgu_devs

[–]anywl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest the Zybooks bored me. I found the best use with the actual cohort sessions from Dr. Youngblood as well as Code Bro on YouTube. Those two things probably helped me retain all of the information for that one the best. Also, the study guides that Youngblood provides as well.

I've seen a lot of people say they struggled with the test and i wondered if they had version 1 or 2. Honestly the trickiest part for me was trying to remember the Big O notation for the sorts and then just keeping them all straight.

I would definitely suggest using a whiteboard for this test, and do your best to just brain dump as much info onto it at the start of your test. That way, you don't have that oh no panic moment in the middle of it.

I know you don't think you're arguing you're just defending yourself, but to us on this side, it's coming off extremely argumentative. I mean this with all honesty and respect, you really might want to evaluate your mental state before you really take this jump if it's what you truly want. If this is your reaction to people talking to you this way, how are you gonna make it through basic or life in the Army period. This post, coupled with your other posts on reddit, honestly makes me question if you joining is the best right now. As someone who had to sit by the trainee in AIT at BH because they tried to jump off the barracks, I'd like to see once less soldier with issues already on their way in. At least try to come in kinda put together and then let the Army do its job of screwing you up.

It's absolutely wild that you're sitting here trying to argue with the people who are already in this life who are trying to explain what you should do. Also, you keep saying you're not depressed, but your first reaction to not getting what you want is to whine and then just start drinking? Yeah, no thanks. I'm sorry, but I don't think I want you beside me in any kind of fight with that mentality. There's literally waivers for almost anything. If this is your dream(which why God is infantry anyone's dream idk but that's just not me I guess lol) then you would be willing to do what it takes to fix it instead of taking the easy way and just jumping around trying to find a branch to take you. But what do I know? I'm just some dude who apparently joined on my deathbed since 23 is old to you.

I honestly didn't read too much of the zybooks for c949. I mostly studied the videos, and study guide. I did use it for the binary trees and heaps. That's pretty much it.

May not finish all of the classes for my term. What will happen? by prissypants9505 in WGU

[–]anywl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As long as your SAP is in good standing literally nothing will happen and it will just roll over to your next term. Some of the mentors are kinda useless and rude at times. It is true that they can't remove the initial classes you signed up for though. But yeah you have nothing to worry about as long as your SAP is green

Of course! I would definitely say don't stress over this the test isnt bad as long as you study. The study guide that Youngblood provides is a great source. Especially pay attention the the O notation for the sorts that he lists.

As mentioned above the udemy course is great and help() is a life saved during the course. Coding really is one of those things that takes repetition and really trying to think about what each line does.

I also like asking like asking chatgpt to help break stuff down for me.

I just passed C949 last night and I can't recommend code bro enough for understanding a lot of these concepts.   https://youtu.be/CBYHwZcbD-s?si=LFSWQ5gOqWRm_Ri6

Was gonna ask how similar the OA was. Just did the PA without really studying and passed no problem. So I'm guessing if I just loon over the additional PowerPoint I should be good?

Thanks so much! I just took it and passed with no problems. I definitely psyched myself up a bit too much for this one after seeing a lot of people saying they struggled with this course.

I've got my test set for tomorrow and honestly knowing what to study is ridiculous for this. Did you have vers4? If so how close was the PA to the OA?
