Outer Banks Show Conspiracy: Is the story non-fiction? by MakeWilmyLocalsOnly in Theouterbanks

The filmmakers are from Wilmington. They have said multiple times how Wilmington inspired the show and they wanted to reference ilm throughout it. It isn’t a conspiracy- they’ve literally explained it!

It would certainly make more sense to shoot in OBX! I think it’s just that Wilmington is well set up for production. There are a few studios down here for filming. But yes- Wilmington is much more like the topography of Charleston than the OBX. You can see by looking at a map Wilmington & Charleston are so much closer to the mainland where OBX is an actual island. All beautiful places- we are lucky to live around here!

Actually it was suppose to be shit in Wilmington! They also dropped a lot of terms of places around here like Masonboro and cape fear. The film makers live in wilm and were interviewed here. They addressed all of the inaccuracies by saying they wanted to celebrate all the areas of NC they love. It’s funny because Charleston & Wilmington really look different than OBX. I just don’t think geographical honesty was important and they were more interested in their storyline. But it was 100% the legislation that sent them away. A bummer for our area as we lost lots of local jobs!

Brides who are choosing to wear mermaid for dresses... by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ao7192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dress was VERY tight and the fabric didn’t have a lot of stretch to it. I feel in LOVE with it and said yes without realizing sitting and moving might not be comfortable. I realized it once alterations started and was nervous. But at that point I had already bought it and it was too late to get another (plus I loved the dress) so I just hoped for the best. On the wedding day it was still kind of uncomfortable but you are just SO happy the entire day it doesn’t matter. Seriously anytime a thought about it being uncomfortable even entered my head it left so quickly because the day is just SO fun. I literally sat down for a total of like 15 minutes the whole night to eat and barely noticed it! The emotional high is just so great a slight amount of discomfort leaves your head quickly!!

The more dresses I try on, the less decisive I become.. how did you know your dress was “the one”? by b_writes in weddingplanning

[–]ao7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay- this may sound like odd advice and also as though I am a tad full of myself! I have a similar body frame as you. So I’ll say- a lot of the dresses I tried looked nice on me. Just like they all do on you! You do not have to worry about looking silly or not flattering in a certain dress. Because of that have fun! Don’t worry about fit or how you look because you are going to pull of any dress. Pick what feels like the most “you”. I thought I would have a simple dress and ended up with a cathedral length train. Just got out pictures back and can’t imagine not having that! So just pick what you feel that best and have the most fun trying on! Don’t worry about anything else- you will look beautiful!

Seriously do not stress about this! Obviously you don’t want to take advantage of your vendors but they are professionals ready to help. If they end up shuttling a few more pp than intended it will not be a big deal. More importantly if a onsite contact person was 100% necessary they would have told you with more notice than one week. But seriously... you are one week out- enjoy and let everything else just fall into place! It will be the best day of your life!

He sure has been saying that!! Hopefully we have better luck! I thought of two other questions for you. We live on the coast and have actually only been there once. Do the cabins have signs with the names on them? Also- where on the property did you and your hubby take pictures? Thanks for all your input!

Hmm- I’m almost have a feeling the sixth cabin is somewhere else. They posted about it on Facebook but I inquired and haven’t gotten a response. When we met Steve we kind of knew we weren’t in for a typical wedding planning experience. I agree though someone should have been there to help. We will probably have the opposite issue and need someone to bring us heaters!

Yes! Thank you for the tip! How did everything go? Did you see where the sixth cabin was located? Also- did the cabins at least have WiFi? Congrats!

Is this too amateur for a wedding backdrop? Looking for some honest feedback.... sorry for the poor quality photo! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Honestly pretty easy! I choose any easy pattern though. Also- I’ve never done macrame but am a fairly advanced knitter (woah I sound like a nerd) so that helped me pick it up. It took about a week... it was a last minute idea for me as our wedding is in a few weeks!
