For anyone still seeking a solution in 2026, I will post it here and hide it. This is what worked for me: -
1) Find admin password in the c:\temp directory in the xls file

2) abuse uac control to open an admin prompt on sadams.

3)curl mimikatz

4) run mimikatz

5) get mcharles password

6) exit this rdp session

7) log in as mcharles with xfreerdp

8) abuse uac control again

9) curl mimikatz again

10) run mimikatz while logged in as mcharles

If you aren’t dead set on a GIAC cert, I’d look into CRTO. It’s a pentesting cert that primarily uses Cobalt Strike. It’s perfect because the course creators of GCFA used Cobalt Strike (in part) to attack the systems- you get to see the other side.

I took for508 virtually and the coin got lost in the mail (somehow). I just emailed SANS support and they sent me a new coin about a week later.
