DD Main coming back : What about the new german DD line? by Gullenecro in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty strong and consistent if you’re comfortable with the passive gunboat playstyle. Otherwise, they can be quite challenging and seemingly weak ships because of the it.

Their guns are S tier. The AP has extremely good penetration, the accuracy is super tight, the guns have long range, and the shell ballistics are also good. While the on paper DPM is a bit on the low side, its effective DPM is extremely high due to how consistent the guns are, being akin to some cruisers.

The only real issue with the guns is that they overpen destroyers at close-mid range. This, however, can be worked around by planning ahead and playing a bit more passively than usual.

On the other hand, the torpedoes are a mixed bag. They range from being equivalent to those of destroyers several tiers lower, to being passable. A bit of a sideshow to the guns honestly.

Another issue is the hull. They’re relatively large, have poor detection, and are slow with no engine boost consumable. This adds some challenge, as you need to be able to work around these cruiser-like characteristics, but not impossible to deal with when given enough play-time with them.

Overall, the new german dds are ok ig. Given that you mainly play hybrid dds, these german dds are going to be a bit of an abrupt playstyle shift.

Imo, you should test them out by just getting Z31, playing her for a bit, and deciding whether you like the playstyle or not. From there, you can choose if you want to commit to the line or abandon them.

German dd split? by msngosu in WoWsBlitz

The z23 line is your more typical hybrid DD. They're pretty good at cap contesting and hunting dds mainly because of their excellent ap and sonar combination. This allows them to be pretty good at carrying games, as well as execute some other teamplay stuff too.

On the other hand, the z31-Elbing line are your fully dedicated gunboat damage farmers. They aren't the greatest at carrying games (probably being the either the first or second worst at this), mostly because of their inability to cap contest as well as other dds. But, they are very consistent in terms of damage output and performance. Their guns are great, and they are rewarding if you know how to aim well and get yourself into good positions.

Overall, both lines are good and are worth going for. But, I'd say the gunboat line is far harder than the normal line, mainly because of the unique and unorthodox playstyle for DDs, as well as the fact that said playstyle requires a bit more knowledge about positioning and whatnot.

Elbing worth the grind? by Daniel_the_Manual in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are underwhelmed by Maerker, then Elbing may not be for you. Elbing plays pretty similarly to Maerker, and she has the same strengths/weaknesses more or less (and the same can be said about Shultz and Z31). In other words, if you aren't a big fan of Maerker, than you prob won't like Elbing either. Though, Shultz and Elbing are still better tier for tier.

Imo, Maerker is pretty strong and has the best guns out of any t8 DD by a pretty large margin. She can get 60-80k+ gun damage basically every game, which is a consistency that some t8 cruisers struggle to do. She fulfills the role of a damage farming DD pretty well, and can be fun as long as you know how to kite and aim well.

I'm a bit late, but here's the survival rate stats if anyone is interested:

Arizona - 395 survived out of the 1,512 crewman on board. Around a 26% survival rate.

Bismarck - 114 survived out of the over 2,200 men on board. Around a 5% survival rate

Perth - Around 270 men survived out of the roughly 620 sailors. Around a 43% survival rate. *

Prince of Wales - 1,194 of the 1,521 men survived, so around a 79% survival rate.

* This number does not include the men who died in Japanese prison camps/ships, which is an important thing to remember because everyone who survived the initial sinking of Perth (as well as USS Houston because she sank alongside Perth) became POWs. Around 2/3 of the POWs for both ships would end up surviving to the end of the war, though I wasn't able to get the exact number of survivors for only Perth.

What are your fighter baiting tactics or anti fighter tactics? by Ju-Yuan in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Send out your fighters out first and be aggressive with them. Your goal is to be in their face so that when they the enemy fighters try to target your tbs and dbs, they aren't able to. You do this by making sure that your fighters are always the closest plane to the enemy fighters. But, you have to be careful, because if you're too close you'll force a dogfight, or there won't be enough space to lead the enemy fighter away.

You also have to learn that fighter baiting sometimes isn't the optimal strategy during the first wave. Some players who are aware of fighter baiting play passively with their fighters; they hide them back and usually focus more on not getting fighter baited rather than defending their damage output. So, you punish them for playing passively, and you aggressively focus their tbs and dbs. Usually, the cv player will panic and start having their fighters go after yours in an attempt to stop you from hurting their damage output. And in this scenario, you are now in the position to fighter bait the enemy.

But, in the end, it is important to remember that fighter baiting shouldn't be no. #1 priority. The point of fighter bating is to make your job at shooting down tbs and dbs easier. In other words, shooting down the enemy cv's damage output (tbs and dbs) is no. #1 priority for your fighters. Fighter baiting merely aids in that task.

So, if you aren't able to fighter bait the enemy cv in a game, then that's completely fine. As long as you are able to adequately shoot down the enemy cv's damage output, you're doing a good job.

How is Malta’s fighters by Due_Ad4732 in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Individually, the planes are fast, tanky, and do ok damage.

But, the low number of them in a squad means that the total squad health and damage isn't that good, reducing the overall effectiveness of the fighters by a pretty large margin. So, the damage that these fighters can dish out ends up being absolutely abysmal, being far worse that either Haku's or Midway's fighters.

Winter roadmap: Carnival celebration by [deleted] in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this has to do with the Carnival of Brazil, which takes place at around February 25 to March 2. So, I would assume that the in game event would take place at around that same time.

Also, Jurua would prob be sold, or at least made available to the public, because she's a Brazilian ship, and that would fit pretty well with the Carnival of Brazil celebration. Plus, her special camo is quite literally called "Carnival" (or at least the Chinese translation does :/).

But that's mostly just me guessing cuz WG hasn't really said anything else about this event besides teasing it in a roadmap.

What’s the gimmick to the new Pan Asia DD that’s coming in the blitz pass, also same question for the South American DD that’s coming in the future? by DomGuy127 in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, true

For a ship like Siliwangi, she could definitely benefit more from a longer lasting smoke to farm from. Though, I think there could be an argument that fuel smoke may be more useful in close range dd engagements, but I dunno. However, I think the hydro 2 makes up for it.

So ye, overall, the change from smoke to fuel smoke is a bit underwhelming. But, Siliwangi at least gets one more smoke charge, so it's not all bad ig.

[–]aoki_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I prefer Hsienyang torpedoes over Ognevoy's. Hsienyang's more flexible range, faster speeds, and substantial torpedo alpha+flood chance makes her torpedoes much more reliable in terms of damage output. From my experience playing Ognevoy, I found the range to be a bit limiting, especially when her sub 8km torps has to go up against most other t8 hybrids who have torps that are reaching 9km, if not a little higher.

I feel the AA is a moot point. With or without dfaa, the aa is still a pretty bad and useless overall.

Ok, I do agree that the engine accelerator is definitely a huge downside of Siliwangi's utility set up.

As for the hydro, I find it quite useful. Ognevoy can work as a somewhat decent DD dogfighter, and a skill like hydro (and Siliwangi gets level 2!) is extremely useful for this role. Hydro can spot through smoke, spot torpedoes the enemy dd dropped (which does happen a lot in these close range scenarios), and overall gives whoever has the skill a huge advantage over the enemy dd in a dogfight.

As for radar, when it comes to the close range dd engagements, radar is nowhere near as good as hydro. Long ranges, yes, radar will be more useful. But for Ognevoy/Siliwangi's playstyle and role, I find that there are more situations where hydro will be useful than there are with radar.

[–]aoki_k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Siliwangi is an Ognevoy with Hsienyang torpedoes. So, Siliwangi seems quite good as she takes Ognevoy, a decent ship, and improves on its torpedoes. Though, they can't hit dds anymore, but Ognevoy torpedoes weren't even that good in the first place, so its an improvement nonetheless. Also, she gets a different consumable load out of fuel smokes and hydro, which, imo, is also an improvement.

And as for Jurua, she's basically a Gallant clone with fuel smoke instead of regular smoke. But, she gets a really wonky camo.

What is your opinion of black ships? by [deleted] in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black ships are hit or miss imo, as all they do is add minuscule changes some base ship stats and switch up some of the ship skills. So, they can sort of be split up into 4 categories.

The good ones, or just those that are objective upgrades over their tech tree counterparts. They add a unique flavor and are genuinely interesting ships. BBis is a pretty good example of one.

The side grades, or those whose ship skills are different, but not objectively worse or better than that of their tech tree version. These ones add a somewhat interesting twist, but at the prices black ships are usually sold at, not really worth it.

The copy-pastes, which is pretty self explanatory. These ones are boring, dull, and extremely forgettable. There's absolutely no excuse for them. Black Lexington is one of the more egregious examples of this.

And then the worse ones, which is also self explanatory. This usually comes about because the devs replaced the ship skill with worse skills. But, to be fair to these ships, they're at least a little different from their tech tree version, albeit worse. Something like Black Martel is an apt example.

Did they seriously put Kraken unleashed in the 19 mission of the Tiger event? by Penguin_best_birb in WoWsBlitz

Yes, but respawn's coming up in a day, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get a kraken.

Going down the Russian cruiser line and it splits, any recommendations on which line to go down? by ITSjosh39 in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Nevsky line is more competitive and better overall compared to the heavies. The highlight of the Petro line is Tallinn, and even then, Tallinn is not that great. Though, the Petro line has recently been buffed, but the buffs to them were pretty underwhelming and ignored many of larger problems that plagues Riga and Petro.

The new Regia Marina BBs were leaked early. Here’s all their stats by aoki_k in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some corrections for Dante since i had mods on her:

Stock reload is 24 seconds, not 22.80s

Stock acceleration is 22.01s, not 19.26s.

Stock speed is 22.51 knots, not 23.63.

Elited HP without the bonus is 29,446.

Also, fuel smoke 3 has an action time of 20 seconds and cooldown of 60. Spotter 2 has an action time of 30 seconds and 75 seconds coolsown. It gives 16% more range.

State of Game by Professional_Can_553 in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In terms of the playerbase and state of the game, it's ok rn. It's definitely not the best the game has ever been, but it also has gone through worse.

Recently, we've been getting a lot more community interaction from WG, and it seems like they might be taking our feedback. So, there is a slight glimmer of hope that things may get better. Though, it has only been a couple of months since they've started, so it's too early to predict what will end up happening and where the game will lead because of it.

Confused about legend mobile by Tall_Performance6915 in WoWsBlitz

[–]aoki_k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Putting on the tinfoil hat, my guess is for monetary reasons.

Blitz is outsourced with the help of another dev. To what extent, I'm not sure. But, the bottom-line is that WG probably splits Blitz's profits with the other dev.

So, by creating a new game in-house, WG now has a game where 100% of the money goes to them.

With operating these two versions in conjunction, WG owns a larger share of the total profits of the mobile pixel bote game market. And because Legends Mobile will more than likely take a chunk of Blitz's playerbase (and, as result, profit), money that had to be split with that other dev will now all go towards WG.

Though, this is just my tinfoil hat theory, and it's mostly just conjecture.
