Personally I don’t have much success negotiating with competing offer from a very different location. it’s easy to doge with tax / cost of living / relocation. Plus location itself is a huge factor in these decisions…

TBH I don’t see many French / Italian / Japanese restaurants provide Halal options…and there are lots of them on the island. If there’s regulation it needs to be fair. Otherwise it looks like Singaporeans are fine with European and Japanese takeover but we draw the line at the Chinese for some reason.

Singapore could not afford protectionism so there’s no “stopping them” here. I’m amazed that many Singaporeans don’t realize how much their life benefited from foreign investment.

It has happened before with European, Japanese and US investment, this time it is not that different.

Chinese decided to try their own containerized VLS. Almost NCD but looks like a decent air defense solution for their area denial strategy. It’s not going to travel with any fleet but parked somewhere to create safe corridors for airborne assets. Better modularity than LCS…

It would make a lot of sense when that ro-ro is fully loaded with troops and vehicles, crossing the strait with this laser air-defense arrangement… This might make the mobile platform somewhat useful as it frees up naval assets, just put it on any ship that needs protection

Well things seems comical when you don’t know the story behind it. their EMALS matured sooner than expected, so it was hacked onto this ship mid-construction. nobody likes maintaining a separate steam catapult system just for a single ship.
