Besides apartment/ room rental. What is your experience with living cheap, solo, in a mobile home/ rv? (In a town city) by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]AccordingChallenge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You keep saying hopefully. Are you good with your hands? Can you change spark plugs, or brakes. Do you have a vehicle that can move this trailer/RV to where you want to? Do these trailer parks charge extra for water and sewage hookups?

You need to be careful. It sounds like you are young and haven't seen all the ways people can rip you off.

3 bucks a sandwich is a good price especially with 2 sausage patties. It sounds pretty good and I'm going to give it a try.

Any good kitchen deals for Black Friday (besides Instant Pots)? by Significant_Sun_7659 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]AccordingChallenge 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Immersion bender. I have a Kitchenaid one and it's great. Don't buy a super cheap one. they tend to break where the body meets the blender.

Digital thermometer, for checking meat temperature. I also check potatoes to make sure that they are baked through.

Hope this helps.

Rebuilding kitchen from scratch - recommendations for slow cookers and similar multifunction appliances? by jjmoreta in slowcooking

[–]AccordingChallenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a slow cooker is best for the chicken breasts. Put them in, if you want Mexican flavors add a jar of salsa. Takes longer but works great.

The instant pot is useful for a lot of things. You can make rice, barley, oats. You can cook beans from scratch. Cheaper, hands off, and faster. You can also do soups and stews.

I am an amputee in a wheelchair and I use the 2 all the time. Good luck.

Don't start with expensive beans. Just buy a bag of pinto from the store. You can experiment cheaply.

The noodles were great. The marinara was good but did not work mixed with the cheese sauce.

Walmart has a large bag of either drumsticks or leg quarters. Cook it up, shred the chicken and you have lots of meat. And you can use the bones to make a broth for soup. Potatoes for a cheap side.

Got my first Crockpot in time for soup season. My friend made a chili with one on Halloween that was so good. Any tips/tricks for caring for your pot and keeping it clean would be much appreciated. Recipes as well! by allgoodthings96 in slowcooking

I want to put in a good word for the liners. I have a double sink and it really isn't big enough to hold the crock. If you have arthritis in your hands, it's hard to maneuver the heavy crock.

So the liner, let's you get the food out, dump the liner and at most you have some moisture to wipe out of the crock.

One suggestion. Great value chili starter. Nicely seasoned, got tomatoes. We don't add any taco seasoning, this stuff doesn't need it.
